Clay Shoot Sat 7-10

Im going down to DesPlaines Conservation Area this Saturday. We can make this an early one if we want. Might be good, it was hot shooting mid afternoon yesterday.

As always...anyone is welcome !!

NOW : Lets talking tournament ! !

If we have enough people that want in lets have a little competition !

Ive been thinking of a way to do this to make it more interesting, last longer and so on.

$5 to buy into the tourny.
Shoot 25 clays
Top 1/2 of guys/gals advance to next round
Shoot 12 clays
Top 3 advance to final round shoot off of 6 clays

Winner take all! !

This is assuming we have more than 4 guys, we may need to have 8 or so to make it interesting.

any thoughts on how to revise this?

Attendees:
1.Me
2.Crazy
3.HDTony
4.Ofc. Ponch
5.Odysseys
6.YZFRob

Keep in mind you do not have to shoot in the li'l tourny . You can still shoot with us anyway!

25,12,6 is an awful lot of clays. I'd say if we have 8 guys we could to 20, 10, 5. First round should rotate 2x's meaning 10 clays....rest....10 clays. Last 2 rounds could be fine without a rest. Bare in mind there will most likely be a shoot off in the last round so some guys will be shooting 3 or 5 more clays 1 or 2 more times.

Thats actually a good point Tony. Anyone should be allowed to shoot any gun thats down there. Some have guns that are set up to shoot clays.(Ponch)

Another thing I thought about:

How many shots per clay? One shot only or two shots? Maybe two shots for first round and one every other round?

attrition is part of the game.! ! you get tired too fast too bad I say !

Maybe the key is not shooting 75 clays before starting this time

that's a good idea Mike. 2 shots in the first round might give some people a better chance to advance

lol.......my point is with shoot offs (ties) you might end up shooting a heck of alot more than what you originally stated anyway.

********EDIT******** and Mike....remember if we are going to be able to get 8 guys chances are some of them aren't going to be used to shooting 200 clays in 2 hours once a week like we are.

I'm up for it 5 bucks is well worth it as a friendly wager.

I think if we are shooting one clay at a time (which is a good idea) 2 shots per clay is fine with me.

Thats alot of clays for $5, I say $10. Also if we go the elimination type competition any LOOSER can buy back into the next round for 3X the original entry.
That can make the pot grow and also add a little excitement to it.

Oh ya... two shots per clay, we can use shot count to be the tie breaker eliminating shoot offs.

Arrogance has to be earned.

I was trying to keep this affordable

Its all good if you win but if you lose and then add $10 to your ammo and clay cost it could get pricey. 6 or 8 guys still gives the opportunity to take home a little coin.

and buying back in? fagetaboutit! you aint flashing cash and buying back in ! you miss you lose

What about us that just want to shoot for fun? (I get my last paycheck Friday)

How big is this place? 500yds? Could we have Ken hold up a clay in each hand and we can all take turns seeing who can hit them?

I'm not crazy, my mother had me tested.

Rob, this is a clay shoot area only. No rifles so you'll have to work something out with Ken directly on that !

You're more than welcome to shoot with us and not take part in the tourny. This is a 100% informal deal just for shits and giggles.

4 boxes of shells and a case of clays is more than enough. Wally World is normally the cheapest but Galyans have been pretty cheap too lately. Get 7.5's or 8's for clays
