Here she is.... my new work horse. I decided to get a road bike and get away from the hybrid for my rides during the week and saturdays we don't go MTB'ing. So I picked up a Fuji Bordaeux pro. This thing was actually more than I thought I could get for the price. It's part Aluminum part CF frame, with CF forks and seat stays. Light as hell. Best part is the components are pretty good. Full Campy Veloce. Not campy's higher end stuff, but some people like low end campy over high end shimano. I can't wait to get out and stretch my legs on it. Hope we have some decent weather soon.

I'll get a better picture soon, but I just brought it home tonight

Nice Brian. Glad it worked out. I guess we will have to have a road ride in the Land of the Beautiful Roads soon. (St. Charles) :cheers

thanks guys.

Craigslist rocks. I can't believe I got this bike in my budget when less than 2 years ago somebody paid $2k for the whole set up new. Plus it was 15 minutes from my house!!!!

Yeah don't feel bad for the guy that took it up the poop chute on that deal. It seems you are past that now. :nutkick:

I just got a call from the owner asking me to sell it back to him. Appearantly, he got an offer for more than $100 more than I paid and he wants to give me $25 to sell it back:lmao: :lmao:

Jeez tell him it's a $2000 machine and you wouldn't sell it for anything less than $1000. Only an idiot would do that. :lmao:

I still owe you guys some pics, maybe when the weather gets better. I got out for a little saturday. I got it it all set up for me, yes Ken without asking for your help.:lmao: :lmao:

I gotta say, I had no idea how big a difference a good road bike made. I went down the block where I used to be doing 15-16mph on the hybrid, taking it easy and looked down, I was doing 20mph!!!, it felt effortless. To be fair there was some wind to my back but the difference was still huge. Can't wait for the weather to break

are you ever going to buy something with a motor?

You're hoping for a weather break while I'm hoping for 6 inches of snow!!!!

My skis came in this weekend and I had the bindings put on. I'm all set for the winter. :woot:

I don't know. I kind of like being down more than 25lbs and still having fun riding trails on the weekend. Some day though. I did buy a nice new SUV....that has a motor:lmao: I'll get another vette in time. As for motorcycles, I'm less sure on my return to that

Hate to say I told ya, but I TOLD YA!!! :lmao:

Glad you are all set now. The road bike will be your staple training machine now. Sweet.

Why not keep the fire going a little longer and try a Cyclocross race with your MTB? I hear there are a lot of slackers in the CAT4B group (beginner) and it would be good race experience as well as good training. Think about it. Two races left this year.

sounds good. I've been killing myself in the gym. Might be a nice break to rest up and do a race

Me too. 3 spin classes last week, raced on Sunday, spin yesterday and ran 3 miles, then tried to swim this morning. I'm fried. And BTW, swimming sucks. The other people in the pool at 5 am this morning weren't sure if they were to save me from drowning, give me tips, or just laugh their asses off. My amateur analysis of what I drank is as follows:

4% rat feces
11% human body hair
16% ball sweat
18% chlorine
50% piss
1% genuine H2o

Most I could swim was two lengths before I had to stop and burp about 5 times. I feel like puking even now. Plus I was swimming like I was drowning and couldn't relax. I am officially a train wreck. Not confidence inspiring either when a 300lb. fatass was next to me swimming the whole time I was coughing. :lmao: I did about 30 laps though so at least I got some kind of workout.

I'm more hurting from the weights, trying to build up my chicken legs. Don't feel bad, swimming isn't as smooth as I remembered either. Once we get used to breathing we'll be fine. STICK with it!!!

I was planning on doing it 2 to 3 days a week, but it might be only on Tuesdays now.

Make sure you do squats. THE best exercise, not only for legs either. I will hit the weights after the last cyclocross race.

Leg presses for me. Squats are like me "Elanor". Injury follows me every time I start doing squats.

You gotta do 'em. Start with nothing or just the bar and go from there. They work more muscle groups than any other exercise.

wanna build legs? Stairmill with weighted backpack and ankle weights. Makes 'em big. ;)

Been through this with every coach I've had in College and HS. Trust me, I'm better off working those muscles other ways. I'm not stranger to the weight room, technique etc. I'm better off doing something else and staying healthy than getting injured and having to start over. I use three different types of leg press machines, and do extentions/curls/calve raises. besides. With a proper rotation of machines I should be able to benefit all muscle groups squats can and stay injury free

squats are terrible for you anyway. Even with proper technique it's dangerous and too easy to get caught off balance and get injured

I agree with you about the squats. I can't do them, my back always hurts afterward.

I wish a PT would chime in about this. Usually if you are feeling pain you are either not doing the exercise correctly or need work on another part of your body (barring existing injury). I know when I start doing them it takes a few weeks to feel strong but that is related to me not having a stronger core and I compensate by using my back.

don't get me wrong. Squats are a great excercise if you don't have existing problems with knees back or neck. Unfortunately , I do

+1. I probably am not doing them right, but I do have some pretty bad pre-existing back conditions.

I've found other exercises that give my legs a good workout. (ie stairmill w/pack&ankleweights) so squats aren't necessary.

I guess everybody is different. If you are doing everything else then why tempt the injury I guess. They just work so well for cycling it's a shame to miss them. After I got that compression fracture on my t12 bone I have to be careful also, but if I start easy and then ramp up I usually don't have pain (with core exercises also).

I'm fine. I'm not a pro here. I lift 3 days a week and run 5k after every workout. I do spin on saturdays, and swim on off days. I'll probably be better off than I was last year come spring
