The plan I use peaks out at 35 miles/week. I modified the plan to peak around 40 when I did my first marathon last year. Now I've modified it so I do more mileage than it calls for in the beginning weeks and I 3 days a month of intervals and hill drills, as well as some tempo runs. I also like to finish my long runs strong. I make sure about 1.25 out from finish I pick up to my race pace. The last .25 mile I do race pace minus :30/mile or faster if I can.

I'd love to see you do a tri! It's a LOT of fun! Some times just running can be a bit of a bore for me. Let me know if you have any questions. Be glad to help.
