I hear bones are the worst thing for dogs.. it impacts in the stomach.
My vet told me he does that surgery all the time for bones and dog toys with that whistle thing in them.
It seems like one of those things where 99% of the time, everything will be great. Your dog will love you for it and things will be merry. Then Murphy's Law kicks in and your dog is in a lot of pain or worse. Doesn't seem worth it in my opinion when there are so many other options out there. :2cents:
I give mine big beef round bones sawed about 1-2 inches thick and then only 1 or 2 times a year. They work the marrow out and leave the rest alone.
For the rest, when in doubt, throw them out.
