Who's got 2 thumbs and just got a set of Spartan Leathers?

Seriously though, I just got my new custom Spartan leather suit.

As some of you know, Spartan Leathers is a custom leather suit manufacturer that builds suits for about $500. I know that some of you have expressed interest in these suits, so I wanted to post up some pics.

My first impression is that I am very impressed with how good the suit looks, feels and fits. Very comfortable fit indeed. The leather looks and feels really nice.

BUT, most importantly, will it be safe in the event of a crash?

To answer that question, I am asking Jim at Jim Leathers to thoroughly evaluate the build quality of the suit. Specifically, how does the suit compare to other brands. I have also put in a call to Alexa to ask her to evaluate the suit, however she has not yet responded.

I should have Jim's evaluation finished in about a week or so. I'll post up the findings in this thread at that time.

Me too! I showed Dave (the owner of Spartan) my Syed suit and he was amazed at the THICKNESS of the leather on that suit. The Syed suit is truly a tank...and like a tank, it is not real comfortable...but it is definitely safe as a tank!

I wanted to pick one of these up. The only thing i'm worried about is the fit. Did you do the measurements yourself?

If I could get rid of my Joe Rocket 1 piece I would be all over this. My stupid legs are longer then my body type would dictate.

Yes, the suit is custom built to your measurements. There is measurement instructions on their web site.

Let us know throughout the season how it holds up. Always nice to see new product that has good value (price, service and crashablility/durability). This will also help the owner improve any areas of concern.

I'm still a Z Custom guy because I know they are quality and my ass is worth it but not eveyone can toss $1500+ at a custom suit.

As promised, I carried the suit over to Jim and here is the writeup that he provided me from Jim's Leathers.

Having two suits is the bomb.... Nothing like a fresh DRY suit. He should offer a "two for" deal.

Ron - based on the quality of the suit, how do you think their gloves will compare to others out on the market? They look pretty sweet/safe and retail for about 83 bucks is a great price if they are comparable to the A* and Helds out there.

So far, I don't think the Spartan stuff is cutting corners on their products. Everything I have personally seen has been good stuff. For that price, I think I would definitely try them out. I personally have a couple of sets of Held's from last year that I will be using this year or else I would try me a set of them.

Sounds good to me! I just ordered a pair of the while and black gloves and should be in with the shipment coming on the 1st of next month. I'll be sure to write up a review and let everyone know how they turned out.
