Looking at a truck tomorrow

I'm going to look at a '04 F350 diesel tomorrow in north aurora. Anything that I should know about this model. I've been reading a little bit about the 6.0L diesel and the problems it has had.

Buy a nice chip for that beast and get ready to go through a couple sets of rear tires a year. 1000 ft./lbs. of torque FTMFW!

They don't get very good fuel mileage. I borrowed one to go to Iowa and pick up my trailer and it got 13mpg the whole time, and I don't drive like a maniac.

i'd rather be Cummin than Stroken

mileage? and what was it used for before hand? if it was some construction truck that was just beat like a step-child or a over the road truck that was taken care of.

the mileage is pretty high at 136,XXX but the rest of the truck is very clean. From the carfax it looked like it had two owners. It looks like a brand new truck inside and out. Judging from the interior it looks like it was very well taken care of. Probably going to go back on saturday with the wife to take a look at it.

shit, 136k that's barely little over half the break-in mileage. It does look pretty clean. I'm with mopar though, I'd rather be cummin than strokin.

They all look good on the inside one the dealer's cleaned em up.
Between the two of us, we've had several trucks over the years and hands down nothing beats the chevy for driveability and holding its value. And, they pull a trailer far far better. But that's just my opinion. Plus, I would need a ladder to get into that truck you're looking at so I'm really not the person to ask

Those diesels will last forever. Mileage is going to hurt, but hey it's a truck.

I took the wife to look at it today and she liked it so I am going to bring my truck in on friday to get it appraised for trade. They are asking 21,998 and they kept saying that was the internet price and that the KBB on it was 28,5XX. Where do you think the price should be what could I get it for? My dad has the same truck but XLT and he thinks I should be able to talk them down to 17K but I'm not sure. Input please.

17k will get you a nice 99 or 2000. I'd guess that one would be solid at $25K.

I see the new ones and they do look nice but having looked at the forums and had friends with them, I am happy with my 7.3 It's old school diesel, slow steady power.
Most of the new consumer diesels try to feel like gas vehicles and there are no free lunches. There is a reason diesels are down rated for marine and industrial use.

I'll be keeping mine for the forseeable future, until I move up to something bigger.

BTW very nice color scheme
