Best Place to purchase a 5x8 open trailer

So I'd love to buy an enclosed trailer, but I don't think it's happening. They are heavier, more costly, and take up too much room for my situation. I can't leave the trailer outside and don't want to pay to store it anywhere. I could put a 5x8 open trailer in my garage, but it will completely monopolize all the space in my 3rd car garage spot which is home to my motorcycle. An open trailer would be good cuz I can push it around easily by hand and even walk over it to get to stuff in my garage if need be.

So, I am looking to get a 5x8 open trailer with the wood plank floor and the mesh gate. I see them at gander mountain, home depot, and farm and fleet, but they seem to be cheaper at like random trailer places on ebay and stuff.

So they seem to be like $900ish at those places. Do any of you have any recommendations of other places near us to go get one? I live in Sugar Grove. I looked on craigslist for a used one and didn't find squat. Looking to get one in April.

I am looking to get the wooden floor model so that I can get a pitbull trailer restraint for my bike.

Gene funks in morris. check out the "Aluma" open trailers. Very nice and light enough to flip it up on it's side with a buddy and store it against the wall.

To me those actually don't seem like that great of a deal when you can go get one from gander mountain that has slat boards in it already, bigger wheels and a stronger frame for a couple hundred more.

Go get a Boat and Trailer Trader and flip through for local trailer suppliers. They should be more than eager to deal now adays and should start out at a cheaper price than HD and Menards. Also there are tons of used trailers out there.

Right on thank you they look good. Cheaper than lowes and gander mountain as well for a 5x8 open with a gate for $850 ain't bad. I'd really love to have their 6x10 interstate 1 trailer!

What is everyone's opinion on open vs closed. My biggest concern is the size issue. I have a Mercury mariner that can tow 3500 lbs or I can use the ford explorer sport trac which can tow 5000 lbs, but I prefer drying the Mercury cuz it's newer and more comfortable.

I'm weighing the advantages and disadvantages but though shit if I get an open trailer and use it for a year I'll spend less, it will be cheaper to haul with gas mileage and all, and if I get tired of it I can probably sell it in 2010 and move up to an enclosed.

^^^^thanks Greg but I think I'm gonna go with the utility style so I can use it for basic haulin as well. I don't really see my value in the rail trailers other than their lightweight nature.
