Where can I buy Uhaul trailers?

I was told by my dad and his buddy (sketchy credibility) that Uhaul is required to sell off their trucks and trailers after a period of time for whatever law or reason. Well, does anybody here know what they do with those things? I was thinking I could snag 1 for cheap, fix it up myself, and use it for goin to the track. God knows I wouldnt trust the way they are built now, it would def need maintenance and mods. Any thoughts? Should I call them directly or are there public sales?

Take a look at OBENAUF AUCTION SERVICE, Inc. you can find them on the web. Sometimes I've noticed they sell those types of things sold by them from city works or other company's that don't need those items anymore. Hope it helps

I think the uhaul site sells the trucks. They are a bit pricey for the high mileage.

screw the trucks, those things probably have like 200k mileage on them. i think the trailers are the only thing worth lookin at, and even so they will need alot of work done by me
thanks, i will check the auction out and i guess just keep a heads up

used to be a UHaul dealer. unless things have changed, they don't sell the trailers. they have their own design, so if you see one painted up, it's probably stolen.

HDTony.... Damn glad to meet you!

you know that Uhaul has the most interesting history.

was watching court channel. They just start talking about the start of Uhaul. This guy starts it. Turned into a big business and his kids take over. Half of his kids are douchbags. They try to throw the dad out on the street. I think someone was killed.

I know Uhaul has a lot of complaints of bad maintanence on their vehicles. Several investigations by the news media.

Stopped by a uhaul near N riverside. One of the guys tried to get a truck running. start n die, start n die. So he just held it at WOT to let it warm up then gave it to the customer.

wow i did a history search and found these insane stories:
http://www.latimes.com/news/nationwo...,77395.special
i think most are regarding the ford explorer which they dont rent to anymore, but that sucks as a business practice. still, if their property is well maintained or fixed up i still would feel pretty confident using it. again, its a DIY thing tho, i wouldnt trust them

couple more interesting links....

"U-Haul does not sell trailers."

The used market is flooded with good trailers for cheap prices. No need to look at uhaul.
