So With All The Shopping....

....that I am doing for the bike in the off season, it is driving me batty not being able to rip - The last track day I did on this thing I finally began to get comfortable on it - Hated it @ Badger and had to basically figure it out @ USAir during Practice and Qualifying - Roman, we will need a mid winter go south and ride track day somewhere

I have been watching these vids in between looking for:

- Wheels
- Slicks
- Graphics Pkg
- New Seat
- Slipper Clutch

Fuck I want to ride a TM and crash on this Track and then you can call my number as I will be done...

Not touching the motor Bro - It runs strong Enuff for me - After watching your 10,000 kicks to start, I love that my 450 fires up every time with ease

This is all what I was going to do last season but never did

I am getting a ton more comfortable on the bike and am most excited about new slicks, to be honest - Hell, I was passing Equalz on our last track day (as he replies with gearing concerns)

No one said you had to touch the engine to go faster. Dialing in ur suspension and dynoing ur bike to get ever hp put of it maybe even running race gas would be the way I would go.

The Susp is probably the best part of the bike - Geo did well there - It is more rider than anything - I never felt comfortable on the bike until the last track day - I hated the bike at Badger and was limited with time on it at USAir - It was not until RA that I began to feel comfortable on it - Found the power bands in each gear - Learned how far over I can take it, etc etc - All moving in the right direction - With what I am getting the rims for vs what I can sell mine for, I am breaking even - Cannot find Marchies anywhere for it and Alpinas are even harder to find - I am excited for 2012 Bro - 2011 and racing were not good to me

No - Alpinas for my bike are even harder to find than Marchies - Unless I want to spend the same amount of $ that I did to buy the bike - Marchi is so back ordered in the states that not one Disti can guarantee when I would get them and they want over $2,500 for a set - I found a used set but the front is 16.5

I looked at Warp 9 and just another front excel too

These are just PC'ed stockers with the decal - I'll sell my rear Excel and Front Stocker and cover the cost - I'll gain a little weight as well as go from 5 to a 4.5 in the rear

All about cosmetics here - Still going to get that damn slipper too one day

why not just powdercoat yours? going to a 4.5" rear is a downgrade.
or get the marchis with a 16.5" front. most of the fast guys like the 16.5 better anyway.

Is there a real huge diff from running a 5 to a 4.5? - For a weekend Chode like Myslef, what can I really expect to see different? - I do not want to 16.5 up front and like I said, for what I am getting these for, the resell of the rear Excel will about cover the cost of red set

Pretty much the whole "180 vs 190" debate on a Sportbike - Not too worried about it

most 160-170 width tires tend to fit a lot better on the 5" wheels. the bigger tires offer more contact patch and more selection to choose from. Ask the Rican why he converted from 4.25" in the first place.

its not even a 180/190 deal Bug. You are going to have the shittiest contact patch with a 160 or 165 slick. That tire is going to be so bowed out on that rim that once you get to the edge of it its going to wash out on you. You are going backward on your desicion. I would do the 16.5 every day of the week and twice on sundays before I go from a 5' to a 4.25

The Marchies are a 4.25 / 17 and a 16.5 up front and no one wants them - You have both seen them on SMJ for a while now

I am not worried about going from the 5 to the 4.25 as I am not out there trying to pay my mortgage with the purse or anything

I have been reading stuff all weekend about the 5 vs 4.25 debate and all that comes with the pros and cons of each and every single one said the same thing, "get the right tire and you will be fine" - The only time you would feel a diff is with wheel spin out of the dirt - Don't have that worry - Plenty of guys say they have run both and like both but unless you are out competing to pay your bills, you'll never be able to tell the difference

I even asked Geo about it before I bought the bike and he told me the same

Its all coming together nicely

Just need to get these things moving - last but not least, need new slicks and finally going to pop for new warmers

Yep - Met him tonight and picked them up - He threw in some slicks - Front is like new - Rear is about 80% good - Decals are being created tomorrow and ordering the slipper tomorrow too - Last will be getting the seat re-done

Going to sell the old rims which basically paid for the new

Cannot wait to get the bike how I have wanted it now for a while

Wanted Alpinas, could not afford - Wanted Marchis, could not find - Got some customer stockers that look sweet - All good in my book
