What Can I Expect From a Damper.......

........ On the 450? - I really only get headshake at the "Slight Right Kink" hard on the gas on the straight at RA - With the 50mm Marrzies up front, she is planted in and out of the corners but I may have a line on a good deal for a GPR4 Stabilzer but not sure what benefit I would REALLY get from it - Gio did a Helluvah job with the Susp on the bike and after I "figured it out" (shut it Bil) along with the new shoes, she digs in and grips but not sure "what else" I could benefit from? - Working on a shorter RR swinger and the 50mm RR Trips are tough to find (a deal that is) so I am wondering what I can expect from the GPR?

BH?

You can expect about nothing .... until you *really* need it.

The first bad-ass slapper you have without one OTOH will be a religious experience.

I recommend them in general for bikes that are track-ridden.

I guess I do not ride hard enough as I never get "slappers" with the exception of a lil dancing up front while @ RA

The '07 D675 has a horrible stock dampner. You saw first hand how well a crappy dampner works in a tank slap. A good dampner seems like cheap insurance.

the Husky giving a little headshake thru that kink is just it's way of telling you that you're a pussy for not being WFO thru that turn

I've never ridden a SM or dirtbike with a damper, so I can't comment as to how much it would help. if you get a shortened swingarm and lower offset clamps it would theoretically make any high-speed instability issues worse - so you may really need a damper at that point....

just seems like a lot of money to get rid of a little wiggle thru one turn though. I'd like to ride the husky now that it's fixed. I rode it right after Gio got it and the suspesnion was scary at that point.

Try sqeezing the bike with your feet, calves, thighs like Brad taught you too - problem solved. I think they all do it as my YZ can get that wiggle. Also just power through it as im willing to bet at the kink your backing it down and the suspension is unloading a bit as the Pussy is starting to come out for a second. But it is wierd as when i put on my 13mm offset calmps its almost gone.

Um, I prefer the term "Gash" thank you very much

Yeah, now that I think about it, I prob do back off a tad at that lean angle and I am sure my foot is off the peg too - Gio even mentioned to me that the bike does that at that turn - I also think I have more in the tank to give as I am getting it over more and more every round - I did get a little shake coming out of the back left hander up the hill @ Shawno when I got on the gas early

Fuck it - I bought it

Dave's experience illustrates my point.... You may not often have a big enough shake that you need a good damper.

But just that once when you do ..... if you don't have a good one...... you'll regret it.

Wheelies, bumpy tracks and hard acceleration with the front light are all in the neighborhood.

Worth it as insurance IMO.

Also try sliding the forks up a few MM at a time to put more weight on the front and keep your head up by your crossbar. Do you have adjustable bar mounts? you could also move the bars to the forward position to put more weight up front.

I drove up there last week in the car by myself (4 hours each way) and it kinda sucked - Also, I need to see if Roman is in as I kinda depend on him for a few things in the pits - I fly out tomorrow for work and get back Fri night - I want to do this as I love the track but need to make sure Roman is around Sat Morning for me to go up to his crib and get the lift, the bike, the easy up, the gas can, etc etc as all my shit is at his place

Roman and I spoke on Sat about it and he wants to go too so we are trying to nail it down to roll up Sat Morning (10am 'ish) so we can be on track by 3pm, get a few laps in and then tackle Sunday

On a Motard and a dirt bike you have so much more leverage with the bars being much wider you can typically reign in the beginings of a tank slapper without much drama.
