RA Trackday - Sunday July 8th

I know it is far out but let's plan this and make it a big group - I know we have a race round the next weekend but lets make this a fun day - I see sooooo many "I would love to try that sometime" so fuck it, do it on 7/8 as you are getting plenty of notice.

Nick
Jack
Ryan
Mike
Pat
Tittays
BH
Colin
And whoever else I am forgetting

And of course, the usual Roman, Steve, Tnat and I - Let's do this ladies - It is Bikes Only and will be a great time to learn and ask questions - It's $40 and a fuck ton of fun

What do I need to do to the bike to get on the track? Tape the lights and....

Who is putting on the trackday? Do I need a membership?

Sticky from Gio in the SM Forum for Track Prep Days and no membership need and no one puts on trackdays - Like we have all said before, bring (2) $20s and ride

Links are dead, not much info in there aside from the bikes need to be quiet. Is that enforced? The akra's on my bike aren't super loud, but louder than stock.

Is my road race gear acceptable?

no sound limits at RA.
need a coolant catch can
need a fuel catch can if you have a carb
axles and peg sliders
full leathers or MX gear with armor underneath

Shit, sorry Bro - Gio linked his old site which he killed when he got out of the sport and into 4 wheel restoration - Bottom line on Trackdays @ RA, No One will inspect your bike but for the sake of other should you go down:

- Safety Wire your Oil Drain Plug
- Tape your lights
- Run Water Wetter (if ya can)
- If Carbed, have a catch can
- Zero Noise restrictions
- If on DOTs, take a few laps nice and easy to warm them up
- Road race Gear is fine
- Would advise against MX gear as the Tarmac will tear thru it

Tnat, am I missing anything ere?

I was going to run engine ice. I think my bike has an overflow for the coolant, and it's fuel injected. So I'll see what I can do about getting everything safety wired. Other than that, I think I'll be ready to go. Do people camp the night before?

No sign up online, just show up and ride? $40?!? That's cheap!

I ran my 690 there with Safety wired oil plug and taped lights - Did not put Myslef in a position where I would have gone down and all was good

Track goes hot at 9am so if you leave the City by 7am, you are on the track at 10am and will have PLENTY of track time - Pay $40, sign a waiver and have fun, that's it - The joy of what we have been preaching for a while now

Already got the sliders. I have pilot pures on the bike now. I don't plan on being very fast, so I'm assuming they will be okay

The question is, knee or foot out?

I tentatively had this day marked as one I would try to make, so put me down as a probable (which is a huge upgrade from any other outing this year).

Well if Colin is seriously thinking about it, then I need to seriously think about going also. Bug can you go ahead and order me a front wheel and a set of tires so the wifey doesn't find out. I'll pay you back.

You are welcome to my spare wheel if you don't have something by then. With as little as I ride now, I don't see myself needing to keep a spare set of wheels with rains on them anymore.

Ed,
I'll get it together by then. I'm taking the whole week off before that, so I should be able to figure it out sometime in there.

Fuck I would love to turn some laps with C & BH - This could get to be pretty Epic in nature with AMA and Big Country on the track with us

I'm in. I got some time this past weekend to work on the bike. Installed a new waterpump seal, changed the oil, checked the valves. I even got to spin a few laps on the little grass track my dad has laid out at his place.

I'm planning to head to Byron Sat June 16th for a little MX fix, then swap the suspension and wheels for July 8th. I even got the okay from the boss already.

For any newbies interested in giving it a shot, I noticed this on the SBKII site:

"The Offer Still Stands...

In the past, I have offered a bike for anyone to come to the track and try their hand at riding a supermoto bike, and not get in trouble for it. Guess what? This weekend, is another Sunday track day at Road America. And I am here to let everyone know that I still have an extra bike that can be made available for someone who may have been thinking about trying supermoto but couldn't talk themselves into it.

Call me... I'm all about it...

Question or Comments... let me know. [email protected] - 920-377-0232 "

www.superbikers2.com

That was back at the May track day, but he usually goes to most of them and if anyone is interested, he will probably come out with a spare bike. Give him a call if you are interested. Tell him I told you to call. My first try at SM he loaned me a set of leathers to use and let me camp in his driveway before the race (I had never met him before that race). Really a good guy that just loves the sport!
