Supermoto racing at Road America 6/9 and 6/10

http://www.superbikers2.com/

I know some of you guys ask "hey next time you race supermoto let me know because I would love to come watch"

Well here is your chance. A bunch of us from Chicago are racing next weekend at the Briggs and Stratton kart/sumo track with Northwoods GP and Superbikers 2. NWGP will be running on Saturday with 2 practices then qualifying then 2 races per class after lunch and Superbikers 2 will be running on Sunday. I beleive I am running 4th in points and and looking to improve as I missed the first race weekend because my engine was not rebuilt in time.

Here is a video of the last race weekend about 3 weeks ago.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hEB0i...&feature=share

If you wanna tag along with me I might have some room in my Tahoe to bring you up. I am not sure if I am staying the whole weekend or not. Possibly just racing NWGP saturday and skipping Superbikers 2 races on Sunday.

Also on the big track ARMHA is racing so there will be a whole lot going on with road racing and supermoto. Its a great time to check out motorcyle and sumo racing up close and personal. You can walk through the pits and talk to each racer and check out all the bikes.

I have been racing since 2000 and so far I have not found anything more fun than racing supermoto. The one place doing wheelies is encouraged. LOL Braaap braaap bitches!!!!!!!!!

sorry no AHRMA this year the KZ plan fell through and Nick said the 550 honda had no chance of winning.
I was proud of our third place finish last year.Maybe next year I'll build a middle weight superbike class killer.

We could win that class.(I don't like the class set up.A 550 honda is down over 20 hp to the kz650)

I just need to figure out foot peg sliders for the DRZ right now and safety wire a few things but yea I'm racing Sumo Saturday. The axle sliders and carb overflow bottle will work that Jack hooked me up with but not the foot peg sliders. I was thinking about cutting down a frame slider and bolting it to the stock DRZ pegs like this.

Skate board or roller blade wheels don't sound like a bad idea.

Is the way those sliders are mounted in the picture above ok for passing tech?

Nick, honestly I wouldn't freak out about the sliders on the pegs. I never mounted mine and I have raced 4 times and no one has said anything. I think I might actually get them mounted this week if I have time since the ones I bought are not a perfect fit and have to be rigged up.

In the past, SBK2 tech was always a lot more thorough than NWGP tech, so they may actually check for sliders and whatnot if you're racing sunday.

Steve, like Jack said I have sliders for your bike. He gave me 3 or 4 sets of them. Beer and whiskey should suffice.

Nick, don't forget to take your kickstand off. that thing hangs out there pretty far on the DRZ and really levers the rear wheel up when it starts dragging.

Will do....

What about the class I should run? Since I have DOT race tires do I have to run in the 450 class or is there a class I can run in where I might be more competitive?

And another question... What about tire pressures? I'm assuming tire pressures are not the same as road racing being there is a tube in the tire. The tires I'm running are Michelin DOT race tires which I typically run 31 front and 23 rear cold.

for the saturday races DOT tires vs non DOT doesn't matter. for the SBK2 classes on sunday you could ask about possibly running the SS class, not sure how strict they are about DOT race tires.... the guys that are at the front of the SS class are fast as hell anyway.

Nick - Sat looks nice and sunny and the track should warm up just right so 22 psi in both front and rear and you are good

A few years ago they were pretty strict about them being DOT tires, not DOT Race tires for the SS class, so you will probably have to run 450. I take it you aren't old enough for +35?

There are typically a few people that aren't completely tearing it up in that class, so the DRZ could probably hang if you are flogging it appropriately.
