I rode like shit, just tired out. I wasnt prepared at all, No working out for like 3 weeks and very little practice and doing 2 - 10 lap races back to back was killing me. I think i got a 6th or 7th in 35+ and 6-8th in 450sm. I need to start going back to waterman to get back into shape. It was fun as hell though. I hope Les isnt banning bikes at Norway now.

I think everyone had a great time. The weather was perfect and I thought the saturday afternoon schedule worked well. It was nice to not have to get up at the crack of dawn to go racing. I finished in either 5th or 6th in both 450SM races.

Tony - I think we are all in terrible shape. Personally, I haven't done any excercise in about a year and it shows after 5 or 6 laps. I wouldn't worry too much about the fitness - most of us are out of shape...

What happened to Norway?

Who won our class? was it larose? Those top 3 guys are sick fast They are like A-riders. As far as being out of shape i was ruined after like 3 laps which isnt normal for me, I was pretty pissed off at my self cause i didnt practice or train and i dont know what was going on with me on Saturday my whole body felt completely off i guess lack of sleep all week 4-5 hrs a night will catch up to ya. Im heading up to waterman though i found thats the quickest way for me to get in good riding shape. Matt are you going to the next race up at WIR, How is that track? is as fast as RA or the dirt section looks more mx oriented from the pix on their website.

so is there anyone actually showing up for the DRZ class? If I can afford to do any racing this year it will probably be on the pig instead of the ktm.

believe me, I was wishing I was up there on sat.

I should be at the next RA race, if not the other two and also the endurance race at shawano. I just need to get the KTM sorted (or sold), and figure out how much further in debt I'm gonna be after my wedding/honeymoon.

I'm gonna shoot for the same, RA.

Whens the Endurance race, and is it team or individual. I can't do more than 3 laps by myself.

Jeez, I need to take notes or something to make sure I get everyone's question in...

1) If I recall, Norm LaRose took the first race but Chase Guthrie got the holeshot in the second and held him off. Apparently this was the second race this season that those two had a great race long battle which was the race of the day.

2) I'm likely going to miss WIR due to a planned move into a new house that weekend. I haven't missed a SBK2 race since mid 2004 but this one is probably unavoidable.

3) WIR is slower in overall speed but the front straight is faster. Some guys don't like that track but I really enjoy it. My favorite part is getting back on the oval and spinning up the rear heading through the banked corner. The bike moves around a bit as the tires get cleaned off and headed towards the front straight with a great overtaking spot in the T1 hairpin.

4) The endurance race is the infamaous 100 lapper at Shawano. It's a team SM event sharing 1 bike usually by 2 or 3 guys. I've done it with both 1 and 2 teammates and it's best just with a pair. Just send a guy out there for 15 laps and call him in for fuel and a rider change. It's the perfect end to the season and I look forward to it as much as anything else moto related... Here is the word posted on SMJ: Talked to Scott and he said they are still going to have the 100 lapper this year. Its going to be sometime in October...

5) Start cleaning out the calendar because Shawano is a blast on the SM bike. It's got it all - up down, left and right, off camber, banked, steep ass table jump, etc.

6) Oh yeah, I almost forgot the most important part. The 100 lapper pays money for finishes! We got second in the 450 class last year (due to attrition) and took home over $200 if I remember correctly.

WIR is reeeaaally fast on the front straight (with a little concrete wall on your right)!!! Good Times. The track is not very technical, but it is pretty fun (as long as you can convince yourself to get past the fact that there is a concrete wall just outside of you as you go around the banking.)

The dirt section is a little more MX oriented, but is still pretty tame. I will be there one way or the other.

The endurance event at Shawano is a 100 lap team race, usually in October. I don't know if they have announced the date yet or not. I have never been to it, but from all accounts, it's a good time.

...edit: It looks like matt answered all the questions while I was away doing other things, and I think we agree on most points.

Too bad I won't see you at WIR Matt. I will finally be getting my lazy butt up to the track. I figured that would be a good track to start at since I could get some rest each lap coming down the front straight.

Good times up at RA.

I suck at dirt, and the competition is stiff, with pro-level guys all around.

I got a lowly 13th of 20 in Open SM both times around. My best time was a 1:23 flat, and I guestimate I was losing 10 sec in the dirt alone.

I wasn't unhappy with those finishes, however. I had horrible grid position due to a bad qualifying session where I killed the bike spinning 180 in the dirt (but not falling) and couldn't get the damn thing started for what seemed like forever. I made up spots from the start position, so that's good.

I was pleased that I did OK on the pavement portion, and racing seems to have moved my braking points a bit later and I feel more comfortable hanging the back end out .

20 Bikes in the Open SM class!!! Holy Crap, that's getting back to 2003 - 2004 like turn outs. That's awesome.

Yep, it was a pretty packed grid. Turns 1 and 2 were just sheer madness!

Colin - You missed a good one this past Saturday. If anything changes I'll be at WIR for sure.
For whatever reason both my 250 and 450 seem to have a bit of headshake on the WIR front straight so I can't take much of a nap before T1.
