SBK2 Season Finale @ Shawano, WI - 9/20-9/21

Everybody have their pre-entries turned in? This is the season finale for the Superbikers 2 Supermoto series in Wisconsin.

If you haven't made it up to Shawano yet, you should try to make it out. It is a really fun track with some nice rolling elevation changes and every different type of corner you can imagine. I hear the new dirt section is really cool too!

They just announced that they are going to have an open practice on Saturday afternoon from 4pm to dark, so you will have plenty of time to learn the track.

I'm an idiot... I had the GP on my planner as the following weekend!

Then I just might make it up there then, especially if there's open practice on Sat.

I know I've asked this before but I can't remember or find the answer...

How 'fast' is Shawano, as it pertains to gearing?

A little bit faster than Norway, but not as fast as Road America. I don't think I ever get the Berg out of 5th gear, and even getting to 5th I think is only one spot on the track. The back "straight" is about the only place to really open it up. As Matt had mentioned in another thread, this is very much a 250 track.

You road race guys are way to worried about gearing anyway.

From Looking at the pics of the new dirt section, i think the MXers are gonna be making up some time on the road racers, Whoops, stepups, it looks pretty cool.

I just went up 3 in the rear and was hoping it wasn't too short.

It does look pretty gnarly. Crap. At least I got some good practice at FVOR in the summer. Lets hope it comes back to me when I get out there.

With a dirt section like that I'll need lots of luck to keep you behind me for 8 -10 laps. I have been practicing though...

Matt do they run 10 laps there, i noticed that the times are longer, If thats the case ill probably be dead after running the Vet class / 450sm back to back. It looks like 20 laps in a row on that track is gonna suck. Whats the deal for the endurance race, any dates yet?

I'm pretty sure they only ran 8 laps at Shawano last year. I would imagine, with a longer dirt section this year they will keep it at 8 depending on lap times.

Edit: I just noticed that they have updated their site (www.superbikers2.com) with details for the weekend.

Highlights: Race day will start an hour later - 1st practice Sunday @ 9 am
Races will be 8 laps
They will be running the AMA dirt section

They have also extended the pre-entry deadline through this weekend, so there is still time to get the entries in!

This just in from www.superbikers2.com:

Spectro Oils Steps Up With Support

This just in... Spectro Oils of America, thru the local distributor Tri-R Distributing, has put up over $1000 in prize money and product for the final round of SuperBikers2 races this weekend.

Anybody have a 450 laying around that they want to loan me for the weekend...wait never mind I do, I might have to sign up for another class. They are putting up $250 for Open and $250 for 450 SS. How about anybody with a set of SS specific tires that I can throw on my spare wheels and set up my 450?

I don't know. They didn't specify how they were going to split it up. They just said $250 for the class, I noticed that 450 SM & Vet are just getting $50, so that is probably all going to the winner.

Joe, If you can get your bike anywhere near Melrose Park (work) or Algonquin (home) between now and Saturday afternoon, you are welcome to ride with me. I just don't think I am going to have time to swing down to Plainfield.

My plan as of now is just to head up really early Sunday morning, leaving Algonquin ~4:30-5:00am. I am going to skip out on the Saturday afternoon practice.

Colin, you got any extra room? My wife might be bailing on this trip. We are not going up on sat anymore.

Just talked to the wife, she bailed.

Probably, with the latest upswing in gas prices, I was just going to take the trailer and leave the Fun Mover at home, but with my 2 bikes and Joes bike(???) that would be a full trailer. However, if you guys are both up for it and want to split the gas a little, I can fit 4 in the Fun Mover and we can roll up there in style.

If Joe cant make it can i head up with you? As far as gas, of course i would split it for both the truck or the funmover.
