Upgrade to the PSN store

In case you haven't seen the update as of yesterday the PSN store is going to be undergoing a major overhaul finally. The slated release date is April 17th I believe and no new DLC released will be available until then. Along with the release of the new store, which is now an app and no longer just a link to a web-site, Grant Turismo 5: Prologue will be released along with a new firmware update.

I'm still hopefull that we'll hear word on a date for the Home beta or release by the end of this month.

Here is the link if anyone wants to check out the new screenshots of the store.

edit: not april fools... was posted yesterday and I forgot to mention it.

So is it your guess that this update = HOME?

Oh no definitely not. They are now advertising Home in Europe though so it's definitely much closer than I expected after hearing no word in the last two weeks. The advertisement is running in purchases of GT5:Prologue. I think that when this firmware update comes out it may include some bits that Home will require though. I'm expecting a mid to late May release on Home.

Another thing to look out for is going to be in game and in movie XMB which should be soon as well and also a firmware update to include the tools required for voice chat in all games, ala how Xbox live handles voice chat. A rep from Sony leaked that we will probably see that around firmware patch 2.4 or perhaps 2.5ish.

Sidenote: For those of you who don't really know what Home is... It's not just a Second Life type of environment. It will add achievements that you can unlock in games, it will add cross game communication, it will add party groups that you can follow between games and a slew of other additions. I'm looking forward to it.

Thanks for the info! I don't like the PS3 store especially since I'm navigating it on a controller and takes too long to load up and navigate through, so I'm hopeful the new version will be smoother.

And can't wait for Home. That should be fun to play with.
