Good to see they finally released pictures. Tech sites have been talking about it for a while now.

Will it really only have 2 usb though? That's fail.

Pretty cool! If they could get the price to $250 there would be a fricken landslide of purchases.

Buy a hub for $10. Problem solved. Or buy a charging station for your controller.

I read an article last year that said Sony was losing $40 with every purchase. Supposedly it cost them $440 to manufacture them up until early this year. The slim does look good though, however I'm not about to lose the money trying to trade up.

Not anymore. They announced last month that PS3 build costs decreased 70% since launch.

http://www.engadget.com/2009/07/31/p...npage_engadget
"Nobuyuki Oneda, Sony's CFO and Executive VP, apparently stated that manufacturing costs for the PS3 are down 70 percent, which is right "on schedule." While there's no official cost published by Sony, those in the know estimate the console originally cost around $800 to produce, and should be down to roughly $240 at this point."

I have 4 on my 80gb. I was just thinking about rock band, I always laughed that the 360 only has 2 usb ports and needed a hub..... but thinking about it I think you can daisy chain the RB2 receivers now so it might be a moot point.

Agreed but there is a generational software update available today so perhaps? Also, I bet it's only a matter of time until they offer PC as an update (for purchase of course).

I seldom use the BC but I have used it and am currently playing an old PS2 game to get caught up storywise before the PS3 release. You just never know.

regarding BC...not very expensive to buy an old ps2

I still have my 80gig that's backwards compatible and hope it doesn't go bad....but this new one looks awesome. I'd pick one up, but then again my PS3 is used 99% of the time to watch movies. Xbox for the games.

So are you talking about a ported PC version or a PS2 emulator?

I'm not holding my breath but Sony has a PSPgo/PS3 bundle selling for $500 right now in Germany. If you buy the PSPgo during the 1st week of sales Sony is also giving out a free download for the Gran Turismo PSP (full game).

It's also running a lot quieter. Amazon is throttling sales to 1 per person. They say they are going to run out of stock very quickly.

I myself am waiting for MS to announce new pricing on a 360 and then I may pick one up. Probably not though if Brutal Legend is truly coming out in Oct. I just don't have a lot to play right now so I'm working my way through the rest of Orange Box till then.

Anyone who gets one please post up your PlayStation Network ID on the sticky thread: "*PSN* Because we don't have red rings" at the top of the Playstation forum here.

I might pull the trigger on that new Batman game. Getting great reviews.

A 360 with the newer chipset would be nice for under $300 but I have a lot of games I'd like to get for the PS3 at this point so not sure if I have time for another system.

The Wii, we'll there are enough hard core gamers out there willing to tell you that the Wii will collect a lot of dust because they are too busy playing their PS360s. I only play Tiger Woods on my Wii or Sports when family comes over. 1st person shooters on the Wii plain suck. I have a few and the controls simply tire your arm out holding it up to the screen. Besides, the graphics aren't anything near HD. I just hooked my Wii up to my 46" Sony and the colors are still washed out and images are really fuzzy. Makes me want to reconnect it to my 1080i set.

Save your money.
