Track day heat!

Guys and gals,

Over the years I picked up some tricks to keep core temp down. With WOW a day away and the weather guys saying it will be 110 heat index I figured I'd share a few tips.

1-Crush ice and put in zip lock baggies (don't overfill, You'll want them a little flat), push all the air out, and leave in the cooler. when your session is up place the baggies in you suit. One between your your traps at the neck line is very nice.

2- run fans on your helmet, gloves, and boots when off track. a simple 250w car inverter usually does the trick

3-put the bike in the shade too. A hot bike is not a lot of fun and the heat transfers to you

4-change into dry clothes on occasion and put your wet (shirt mainly- not your sponge bob boxers) clothes in an a/c'ed room. Hang the shirt over a chair and switch it out through out the day.

At any time you feel dizzy or fatigued then you need to get indoors to the a/c, drink fluids, and relax.

anyone else?

If a full session it too much ride half. If you aren't feeling right, sit out a session. Better to have 4 good sessions than 6 and put people and equipment at risk.

I can't comment on "at the track" tips, but something I found while working on the farm bailing hay is, running cold water over your wrist (where you take a persons pulse) helps cool a body down.

A few other things, keep a towel in your cooler and put on your neck after every session.

I usually throw my gloves in my cooler too

Only because its supposed to hit 115 on Wed and I don't want guys passing out and/or getting hurt. You have a valid point though and I will adjust

the reusable ice packs work well under your armpits as well, get them and throw them in the cooler between sessions and when you first come off throw her in there, a HUGE horse stall fan don't hurt either

Any chance you can set up a chair with a bucket above it? Then the girls just pull the rope that splashes the water on them?

grey shirts and legwarmers will be provided to complete the look...
