Do you have to do the trackday to be able to race the carts? Also who tunes the carts? Reason I am asking is it would suck if they are not tuned to the same RPM of each others and you loose becasue of that.

Yes they are if youhave a guy who knows what he is doing. We were able to race the carts at US Air in Shawno after a race weekend and it is a cart track. Every cart was dialed in exactly the same tuned to the same rpm as ever other one.
No sense in racing for money if its not a level playing field ;-)

You do NOT have to do the track day to participate in the karts.

The karts are tuned by ACC. STT has nothing to do with how and when the karts are tuned.

I've done them in the past and I never saw one that was significantly faster than any other.

The team will pick their cart at the kart track.

When was this?

The weight of the driver(s) is a larger part of the equasion. Assuming the same or similar HP, then it all comes down to power to weight. A lighter driver will always be abe to have raw better performance, then it comes down to driver skill, and proper lines.

That is why Formula Ford has a minimum weight WITH DRIVER required. Levels the playing field. Some guys have to balast up to meet minimum weight.
