Motorcyclist killed by woman

We need a little help here, here is what we have so far. What we are looking for is the info on the woman so we can put a letter together for the State's Attorney's Office. Thanks for any help on this.

Police: Motorcyclist killed as car runs stop sign
THE BLOTTER
6:44 AM CDT, June 6, 2008

A motorcyclist was killed Thursday afternoon when his
sport bike slammed into a car that police said ran a
stop sign on Chicago's Northwest Side.

The accident happened shortly before 3 p.m. in the
7400 block of West Addison Street in the Belmont
Heights neighborhood, Officer John Henry said.

John Boria, 30, was riding a 2002 Suzuki motorcycle
westbound on Addison when a 2003 Subaru ran a stop
sign on Osceola Avenue and the bike crashed into it,
Henry said.

Boria, of the 3600 block of North Potomac Avenue, was
taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park
Ridge, where he was pronounced dead at 9:08 p.m.
Thursday, a spokesman for the Cook County medical
examiner's office said. An autopsy was scheduled for
Friday morning.

No one else was hurt in the crash, Henry said. He
could not say if Boria was wearing a helmet.

The 38-year-old Chicago woman driving the Subaru was
ticketed for running the stop sign, Henry said.

That pains me to read that she was ticketed for running a stop sign! Like a motorcycle riders life is worth less than someone in a car.

anyone know where to rent large dumptrucks?

seriously whenever the disregarding of a traffic signal or marker results in the injury/death the penalty should be far harsher than a simple ticket, there should be criminal charges

the lame ass excuses of I didnt see the bike(cause i wasnt looking) and the bike should have been going slower, and damn bikes are everywhere wont end until the penalties will get harsher

That's my worst fear with Brianne riding her own bike. Her parents are really against motorcycles, and they are unaware that we ride.

And before anyone gets on my case; Brianne is the one who talked *me* into riding...I did everything I could to dissuade her.

Yeah, the motorcycles are my fault. I'll take full blame for that.

On a side note, my dad called my work the other day. One of the high school kids answered and was like, oh, you want to talk to Bri? Bri with the motorcycle? My dad started screaming at the poor kid yelling that his daughter DOES NOT ride a motorcycle. Kid was like, sorry, I was thinking of the wrong person gottagobye.

Yeah, not too eager to tell my folks about the bike...

I just want to know how this isnt vehicular manslaughter. If some one loses control of they're car an nails a pedestian, who then dies, are they not charged with that? How is this different?

Sad to say parents NEVER want their children on bikes if they didn't ride also. They have a nasty habit of expecting the worst. And Raven.... ALL motorcyclists know the risk of throwing their leg over a bike and starting it. Enjoy the ride WITH Bri and know that you both love it. I know I couldn't see my life without a bike in it, regardless of the risk. It is TOTALLY worth it in the end.

Thank God, and knock on wood, this hasn't happened to me yet in 4 years of riding.

Everybody here is right, there should be more than a $75 fine when you blow a stop sign, because what you are doing is alotmore than just "I don't want to stop." The person who blew the stop sign and killed the motorcyclist knew that there's a chance she could hit or possibly kill somebody by not stopping, she just thought that the odds were heavily in her favor (guessing she does it all the time), so yeah, that should be some type of homicide.

Hey Rick, I totally agree with your statement. I don't own a bike, nor do I know how to "drive" one....I just know how to be a passenger. I have known personally, family members and friends who have been in motorcycle accidents. Even as a passenger, I watch the road and everything thats going on around me because you never know when some moron on the road is gonna side-swipe you or cut you off.

I like the mantra..."ride like you are invisible",because you pretty much are.
I still LOVE riding though!

Very sad to hear... Way too much of this going around lately.

My condolences to his family and friends.

I honestly don't know how you guys that commute/ride daily in the urban environment do it. Nearly got taken out by a squad car blowing a stop sign the other night returning from bike night. Insane.

I was one of the people in the operating room where John was being treated for his injuries that resulted from this crash and we did everything to try and save his life (for about 4 hrs). It was hurting me inside hearing his mother screem and watching his brother try to touch John's blood on the floor. I have been following this story since. Unfortunately I do not have any info about the woman that ran the stop sign. When they bring a trauma into our OR they tell us only as much as we must know so we can treat the patient.
It made me sick when I read that all she got was a ticket. She did not see what she did, we did. They should have brought her into the OR so she can watch how strangers give everything they can to keep him alive and to realize what she did cannot be undone. How can she sleep at night?

To John's brother: He heard as we whispered "Bulldog" into his ear, I am sure of that.
To John's Lady: I am sure that John is the love of your life and I feel for you. Remember his face and pray for him. He knows when you do.
To John's Mother: Do not cry for him, he would not want you to be sad. Think of all the times you got to spend with him, think of all the memories he left behind.

I swear to you all we did everything we can. Even after it was clear that he was gone we kept trying and trying. God had decided.

im to be honest am seriosly shocked by all this yea i know that everytime you saddle up you run that risk of getting injured its the inheret risks of riding. but this is a load of crap. this aldy got off way to easy and im almost sure. that it falls under the catagory of reckless homicide/vehicular manslaugter. and this lady needs to be charged for it. to the person who was in the OR trying to save him it seems like ur taking it pretty hard which i understand, but at the same time like you said you did all you can now hopefully the law does what they can and charges this lady the way she needs to be.

Everyone needs a healthy way to relax, mine Church, and two wheels, a stretch of winding road, and a pipe loud enough to give me headaches and make squirrels explode. (Fixed curtousey of PWRMAD)

Nothing is impossible the second we say ill try your already admiting you can be defeated, and the second you say i cant or its to hard youve already failed.

Just had another fatality about 7 blocks from there, DUI woman and the first citizens on the scene lifted the car offa him and didn't remove his helmet. Harley was trashed and he was gone on route to ER, she was DUI'd and that's all I know right now.....Fortunately a local store had full video.. Be carefull out there people, he was only 3 blocks from home.
