Not at a check point their reason is checking for papers. And again people should have all the papers.

I'm fine with random road checks. If you aren't doing anything wrong it's a little inconvenience. On the flip side it keeps drivers without insurance off the road.

They do the same thing with cars on roads. Obviously it was warranted if they found 30 bikes that are braking the law.

You get pulled over simply because you're on a bike and that's not wrong?

How about if you're black?

or in a 1974 Pinto with non-matching body panels?

It is wrong, as I said, they should be off the streets and it is a good thing that they were caught, but to do something like this to purposefully find motorcyclists is wrong. What they should do is not allow you to register a bike in your name without the proper classifications.

Im all for stuff like this.

Hopefully it will get a few off the road before the kill themselves or someone else. a road check targeting an entire vehicle category seems fair.
They make trucks pull over for safety inspections simply because its a truck, ive got all of my papers and classifications to ride legally.

More power to em

I leave work and hit up RT 83 and North, and at least once every two months there is a road block for "click it or ticket".

Two days ago, troopers lined up ON FOOT walking down congested traffic at the lights and just pointed and pulled people over for seat belt tickets. There were five troopers to the side parkinglot as a "staging" for violators to receive their little yellow slips.

Truck stops

Vehicle stops

Bus stops

And others to see if they have the proper classifacations or "endorsements" on their licenses

Cycle owners can get their vehicles back simply by showing their proof of ownership and paying the towing fees. Bowers Towing said its fee would be $150. Dublo said his company's fee varied with the size of the bike, but he declined to be more specific.

Couple of Q's -
What is needed to show proof of ownership?

The towing fee varied by the size of the bike?

Do you have to give them your keys when it's towed?

Ive never carried a title to anything on me

When pulled over for a moving violation they never even ask for registration anymore- its DL and INS. only

Read the link at the bottom of that article - it says to follow the link to see if you comply-theres not a darn thing in that link that states carrying registration or anything else.

It's the end of the month, and the state pd has likely not written enough tickets, so they target bikes instead, knowing it's easy money.

Going around in circles in the parking lot at slow speeds does NOT make someone a skilled rider. Proof of insurance... photoshop anyone..?

Another IL scam IMO.

So no probabe cause needed for such a stop? With seatbelt violations at traffic check points it's obvious when someone is not wearing their seat belt, but what about here?

plus lets say you forgot to put the new ins card in your wallet. You mean to tell me I'd have to pay $150 for a tow just because that cop wants to yank every bike off the road.

I know some dumbasses are gonna say "well always have your new card" like you never do anything wrong. But sometimes u forget.
