StarCraft II

After 12 years, SC2 will finally be released tonight at midnight.

Yes, I'm not ashamed to admit that I'll be getting my copy at midnight... waited twelve fucking years for this after all.

Any other fans here?

I loved starcraft. But I'm don't think they could make it any better. Maybe better graphics ... let us know if you like it and if its any better then 1.

Picked this up at midnight, at the Best Buy in Downers Grove. There were about 100 people in line there... maybe half had pre-ordered.

Played for a few hours that night/morning, then for another 8-10 hours yesterday. I only played the SP Campaign and am about 3/5's of the way through it. I must say that I'm really enjoying this game immensely. I've only been playing on Normal difficulty, but definitely plan on going back and replaying on Hard and/or Brutal, and trying to get as many Achievements as possible.

I have an out-of-town guest staying with me for the first half of next week, so that'll cut my playing time. But I will eventually dive into Multi-Player, both with some co-op missions then eventually getting back into ranked play.

[email protected] is my RealID if anyone wants to add me.

From what I hear it is only the one campaign and the others will be sold as part of a SC2 "trilogy". That ruined it for me, I know damn well that the multi is where it is at but you should still get to play all races in the SP IMO.

This has been known for a long time. What people fail to realize is that they are offering the same "length" of a campaign.

SC1's single player campaign offered 30 missions. The Terran campaign in SC2 (plus the Protoss mini-campaign) offers a total of 26 missions.

Instead of a briefer 10 mission storyline for each race, Blizzard now has more "time" to present deeper storylines for each race. You're getting far more meat for your money. Would you rather have the 3 Lord of the Rings books told in 1 cut down 3 hour film, or a 3 film trilogy?

I find it sad that people are bitching about this now, since Blizzard had announced this YEARS AGO!!!

lol.....I'm not bitching about it now, I'm saying that is why I chose not to buy it. Lots of people don't read up on this type of shit and could be disappointed buying it.

This one was on my radar for a while but I decided not to get it for the above reason and also because it would be integrated into my battlenet acct for online play which I really don't like. Bliz really screwed the pooch with that one in my experiences so far. I downloaded the beta and didn't even install it.

With the long delay (12 years) between the two you would think they could have put more into it, that's all I'm saying.

Lord, beer me strength

I'm debating on buying this one.... Love playing SC1 both campaign and multi. Just trying to see if I can't find somewhere selling it for less than $60. One thing I was curious about, is the online play similar to SC1 where you just log onto bnet and play or similar to WoW which required that you pay to play online (retarded IMO)?

How about in one 90 minute film.

Playing multiplayer SC2 on B.Net is be free, just like SC1 has always been.

I gotta say, besides then length and storyline the game really doesn't seem 12 year worth of work... The gfx are nowhere near current standards, same goes for audio... This is red alert 2 just with a nicer story

Your statements aren't even remotely accurate.

Initial dev began in 2003, but was put on the back burner several times over the years, in favor of other projects. Dedicated development began around 2007.

StarCraft has always avoided super-cutting edge graphics, in order to enable lower-end hardware to still be able to play the game. This debate raged back during the SC1 days, when players bitched about why Blizzard limited game resolution to 800x600. Blizzard stuck to their guns on that decision then and I feel that allowing a wider audience contributed to their success.

Finally, Blizzard is known for taking their sweet ass time, and they're not ashamed of it. "It'll be done when it's done" has always been their motto.
