xbox 360 freezing in MW2

anyone heard of this happening, ill be playing for a little bit maybe 15 mins and the game will freeze with some square digital scramble on the tv... is this the precursor to the red rings?

It's about to RROD, take it apart, pull the heatsinks, replace thermal paste with arctic silver 5, remove Xclamps and screw down the heatsinks.

It's about 30min - 1hr worth of work.

I just bought a xbox last week, guy said same thing, then it RROD on him, bought it, took it apart, over heated, reset it, removed stock thermal paste, applied new paste AS5, removed the gay xclamps and replaced with screws... unit runs great, fans don't even go up to high anymore. Simple solution... was my first Xbox360 I've ever played with...

its good to see this, basically the same process as seating a cpu heat sink right?

exactly... except you have to replace the xclamps... they cause the most trouble... they don't really pull down the heatsink like it's supposed to, it just holds it from falling off...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fM4TE...eature=related

watch that, that's the xclamp fix... he doesn't replace the thermal paste, you should though, it's junk... use Arctic Silver 5... best stuff out there. Also I used rubber washers under the screws and heatsink, I don't know about you but metal on electronics doesn't sound good.

Also if you do it prior to RROD, it'll save you the trouble of making it overheat to get error #74 and then cooling it down to reset it.

those xclamps cause most of the issues... on a regular heatsink (example your pc) the heatsik sits on the cpu then gets tightened down with screws so it's sitting as snug as possible. The xclamps hold the heatsink from falling out, it doesn't keep the heatsink on the cpu snug like it should so the heat off the cpu cannot be dispersed properly onto the cpu.

k, just shoot me a msg whenever you're ready and I'll meet up with you somewhere by my place

PS3 needs 3D for the effect that someone else is actually out there beside yourself playing online.

need disc drive for my son's Xbox 360

On our 3rd xbox. My Son's gets the "open tray "error. Tried fixing it all the Utube ways but not dice. The laser gets stuck to the back of the disc drive and doesn't move. Took the mechanism apart and the worm drive motor for the laser is almost completely seized.

If you guys know where I can get a disc drive, lemme know.

Thanks,
Al

toys, you can get one on amazon... 60 bucks from what I remember. Try to get the exact same one you have (model is on label) otherwise you'll have to go through a couple more steps to get the drive to be seen by the system.
