Best NES game?

In talking with a few friends, we came up with these three games as the best NES games. Which one does it for you?

Yeah, I wanted Jackal (favorite 2 player game), but I conceded when we getting this list together.

Anyway to edit a poll?

Jackal Fucking ruled!! I forgot about that game!

The little jeep that would shoot stuff, that was the shizznite!!

I'd say Zelda of the choices given due to repeatability but the best game for the NES bar none and hands down:

Star Tropics.

Perfect blend of RPG, Puzzle, Action and Adventure; Great Game!

I voted for Zelda, but I'd go with Super Dodgeball FTMFW!

I never got the chance to play that with 4 players, but I have a four player adapter and lots of controllers for the NES at home..hmm.

Jesus...Baseball Stars or Super Tecmo Bowl...hands down, and I have a good mind to issue negative rep for excluding both of those titles from the list.

Note to self: Do not f with a person's childhood by way of NES.

I like all the games suggested - but here's why we chose the top three...

Contra - Konami code, great 2 player action, the challenge of beating it by starting with 3 lives

SMB3 - pretty much one of the best Marios, also paved the way for every Mario afterward (overworld map for different levels), it was in The Wizard

Zelda - the original action adventure, 2nd quest, alternative to FF and Dragon Warrior for a generation of kids not able to focus for long

As for suggestions -

Star Tropics - was pretty awesome in that it mashed a bunch of genres together in a cool way (RPG, Zelda-esque, etc.)

Dodgeball - excellent multiplayer, but slowdown and flicker show up(mayber my cartridge?)

River City Ransom - another great 2 player, but slow (better then Double Dragon?)

Double Dribble - better then any Atari sports game, but ain't shit compared to Blades of Steel

Baseball Stars/STB - forgot about the Bowl, both good home sports games for the time, I'd take original TB for nostalgia, see above about Blades

Castlevania - that's also a good one, I'd take III for the awesome graphics

Metroid - groundbreaking?, sweet secret code and hidden levels

SMB - yeah... The one that started it all.

I was planning a SNES poll, I'll start a suggestion thread first!

Zelda was awesome, as was Contra. Hard to call which one is best as they're different genres of games really. RPG v. Action shooter.

Excitebike was great too. I loved that game.

Contra is number 1. Mike Tyson's Punch Out very close 2nd. I still have not been able to beat Tyson to this day. Not even now on the emulators. I suck at video games.

Tysons Punch Out is #1 in my book...he's easy to beat once you get the rythm down. Remember that after you dodge a punch, if you press up on the controller, Mac will return back much faster and be ready to swing.
