The Valve corp/ Half-Life game series is honestly the best game story line/series I've played. I started with HL 1 when it originally came out, then opposing force, counter-strike, team-fortress, blueshift, then finally HL-2 which set the standard for video games thereafter. I really hope for another HL story to come out sometime.

Half Life 1 and 2 are my favorite games ever. And here is something both xBox and PS3 fans can agree on: Valve treats us like 2nd class citizens compared to the PC editions.

I wish they supported console games more because they really make great stories and gameplay.

There is a reason for this. Not sure about sony, but mircosoft makes the developers pay to patch the games. First patch is free, any other patches cost a pretty penny.

Valve uses their PC market to continusly play-test patches and content, and whey they believe they have enough they may fork over the cash for a mass update of their colsole versions.

That and using Steam it is quick and super cheap to patch and re-patch games and get quick feedback.

you should also realize that valve gives you waaay more free content than any other game publisher...and they demand that it's free

just look at TF2...they have given out more maps and character updates, which make the game fresh, all at no charge to the customer

and then you have Resident Evil 5 where they charge you $5 just so you can play with a friend

and don't get me started on EA

I didn't have to pay for multiplayer for RE5.

And I LOVE valve, but their games are best on PC since they respond quickly to user requests and demands. Their bug fixes come really fast from when the bug is found. The console versions....not so much...because of the extra red tape and cost added in by the console companies.

The Pyro pack made me wet myself with joy.

Whoa, that played just like the game! Very cool.

Half Life 1 and Deus Ex were unreal.

"includes 10 used-car dealers or auto repair shops, 11 liquor stores and bars--two of which advertise lingerie fashion shows and a third billed as a "gentlemen's club"--three cut-rate motels and one trailer park. The squat, brick municipal building is next to a currency exchange and a few steps from an adult video store. The bars open at 10 a.m. and close at 6:30 a.m."

I don't think there is any other game(s) that give you that "inside the game" feeling while playing HL1, Opposing Force, HL2 etc..pure awesomeness = Valve.

You've never played it? Def give it a try. It's long, dated, and the graphics are shit, but the experience and subject matter are a must try.

Black Mesa Source will let us play HL1 all over again.

I still have it for PS2 and since I have the 60gb PS3 I can play it. Is your source updated or is it the same release?

It's the HL1 game using the HL2 engine. So HL1 with HL2 graphics and physics.

Hum, maybe. I sure wish they could have given you better weapons by the alien dimension stage. I was spanked around and tired of it by then. The ending was a little rediculous too since I couldn't figure out how to kill the giant spinning pilar. I had to code in infinate lives to beat that thing, which leaves me ashamed to this day. A true low point in my gaming career but sometimes it must be done.

No worries, I had to look up online how to beat it lol i was pissed I couldn't figure it out. After all that, I got hung up on the final stage.

I had to look it up too but when I tried to solve it nothing happened. I figure that either since I had entered some cheat codes that it was preventing me from completing the game (but online boards didn't say anything like that) or I just choke it up to being an early gaming experience and the fact that I was "all thumbs" at the time.

I'm still not as good as most gamers but I'm much better now.
