Amazon.com Used Video Game Trade In Program

http://www.amazon.com/Video-Games-Tr...node=979418011

Anyone see this? It's news to me. I checked it out yesterday and compared it to Gamestop's trade in values. Amazon beats them nearly all the time.

It seems easy enough. Just search for the game you want to trade in (they don't take all games though), add it to your "trade in cart" which is like a shopping cart, and then print off the prepaid mailing label, put them in a box and send em in.

Amazon then sends you an Amazon gift card which is a whole lot more useful than Gamestop credit.

The only hitches are that the minimum trade in value has to be at least $10 which means you probably have to either do a newer or rare game or more than one game (low end trade ins are $3-$5.50). Also, you have to have the original box, cover art, and manual in addition to the disk.

Anyway, might be a great way to get rid of games. I tallied up my trade in list and it was over $150.

I just mailed in 13 games and will get $138 from Amazon. It is really easy and they give you an additional $20 off a new release if you do it in April.

So basically, I was getting $10 a game but a lot of my games were old like Area 51 for ps2 and GTA LC for PSP. I thought it was fair enough for them.

Cool, thanks for the heads up on that.

Have you checked out www.dawdle.com ? they're a sales/purchase option for gamers.

Has anyone ever sold games on dawdle? It looks decent enough but I'm wondering if they have enough exposure to people to actually sell the games you list.

For example, the top new games are for sale on the PS3 but nothing else. And even some of the PS3 games seem overpriced like Conan. Who wants to pay anything for that junk?

I can see me listing stuff on there and having to renew the listing so often it becomes a full time job. Not that big of a deal but still more work than Amazon which just buys them outright and pays more than gamestop.

Anyway, it does look like a good alternative to gamestop for purchasing. Although not for all titles. GTA4 is for sale for $36 which is too close to the retail price. Used it should be $20 tops.
