no sound w. hdmi cable on 360

tried a dry run with the new hdmi i got. no sound but got video. what gives? i need to figure this out before the tv is mounted on the wall and wires get run behind the wall. help

fwiw the same hdmi cable works fine on the dishnetwork.

did u do the mod listed in the other thread? my issue is gonna be not being able to have the regular 360 cable reach the distance i will need it to (12ft or so) once the wires are run behind the wall. this is just weird to me cuz hdmi should do audio and video.

are you using the garbage cable included with the xbox? could be the problem, it was for chills.

Actually that cable worked just fine. The problem was that I didn't set up the receiver to acknowledge that AUX1 was for the Xbox. I thought someone had done that for me when they helped me set it up.

i had sound go out on an xbox360 before thru componant cables. maybe hook it up another way to verify the sounds actually work?

i am using an hdmi cable i got at monoprice. everything works fine with the reg cable that came with the xbox and i had the correct input selected when i switched over. i have until next wednesday to get this figured out.

well i reconnected it and it works now for some reason. i googled the issue and it seems to be a common thing. also found some other fixes just in case it happens again.

the xbox updated or something when i put in nfs shift b/c now the desktop part is different and it made me create an avatar. went in and adjusted the video too and it is much crisper now.
