360 Rockband and Guitar hero compatibility

Hi Guys,
I've played both these games quite a bit and enjoy both, and now I want to purchase them for 360. What is compatible with what? I don't really want to buy both, and 2 drum sets etc. Are there any availblethat work with everything? I just want 2 guitars, mike, and drums to play with.

Also I'm probably gonna buy the older versions to (gh 1,2,3 etc) so if anybodys got used ones hit me up. Thanks,
Eric

Threw the exact words in your title into Google...

First result is the chart I expected...

A tad out of date but a perfectly good place to start.

the are all compatible with each other however specific functions of each game are worked into the intstruments.

Rock band guitars have the solo buttons.
GH guitars have the touch pad now.
GH drums have 2 cymbals 3 drums and the kick
RB has 4 drums and the kick.

most would say the best non custom guitar out there is the one for GH5 but some prefer the feel of the RB stummer.

Sounds good guys. Thanks for all the advice. I couldn't believe it had gotten so complicated.
Thanks,
Eric
