Taipei Scooter Town

Just got back from a vacation to Taipei, Taiwan. I've never seen so many scooters before in my life....they have to out number cars 10 to 1 easily.

Here are a few pics. First pic is from the scooter parking lot at the train station (photo does not capture the the entire lot), second pic is a banner I saw hanging in front of a junky store selling helmets. A newstand had a magazine dedicated to scooters with pics of guys in full leather racing suits doing wheelies and racing scooters (I couldn't make any sense out of the articles though..haha). Most of the scooters on the street we very poorly maintained. I have to say, the riders were pretty skilled, driving quite fast down alleys and weaving and dodging each other and autos....I did see one rider down (she had been hit by a cab and didn't look like she was doing too well).

I saw on several instances an entire family riding on a single scooter (Dad, Mom, two small children) but was never able to get a good picture.

There were a few motorcycles here and there but not many. Out of the bikes I did see only 2 were (from what I could tell) above 150 cc (one cruiser and one totally tricked out DRZ400SM).

Here is a pic from one small bike I saw that was actually pretty cool looking.
