Our new project scooter

"Munchkin", as named by Stephiroth, was given to me by her with a promise to try and bring it back to life. It has a dead battery, among other things. Duting its life as a hooligan, it was known to jump matchbox cars, and was parked after hitting a semi truck. So, this weekend I will start to resurrect this fine machine, and make it a hooligan once again. I present to you, our '86 Yamaha Razz scooter, the 2smoke 50cc hooligan.

I'm putting the HD on the side right now and starting with the scooter. Picking up a few cans of carb clean, oil, battery, plug, and premix, and will start with going through the carb, dumping the old fuel and premix, assembling it, and troubleshooting it further if need be.

Get it back to running order on a low-budget..... ride it and decide what
it's potential is before you decide to spend a bunch on wheels and such.

Old stuff is cool ( neat looking bike ) but..... it's old stuff and can rarely
be made to work nearly as well as new-stuff.

Good luck with the project......

I tried to bear your record with balling up a new bike, but I made it home from the dealership.

Yesterday I took the lower part of the carb apart and inspected the jets. As I thought, the pilot jet was 95% clogged. I removed both jets, and let them soak overnight in carb cleaner. Today, I cleaned some oil off the bike, reassembled the carb with clean jets, and it fired on the second kick. I rode it for about half a mile. Needs a plug and a new air filter, but it moves under it's own power. I don't know how far I will get into the scooter, but it's fun to work on. So far I have spent about $1 in fuel, and part of a can of carb clean I had in the garage. Gus and Nick taught me a little about carbs and how they work. It's nice to put it to use. Thanks guys!

Totally forgot. Cleaned the carb a few times (lines had crap in them not helping), and it fires right up. Then I traded it to SmartDrug. I have an empty garage for now.

Runs fine, I didn't even need to replace, just regapped and cleaned with some diesel and a wire brush. Still doesn't love WOT but will do 30 mph with my fat ass on it.

Need a picture? Haha. I sold the HD to a neighbor. Her and her BF want to ice race it. That scooter cannot get cracked to WOT. You have to slowly open it up. But 30 mph with people like us riding it is about tops.
