Joining the club in about 4 hours

Picking up a 1978 Honda Hobbit PA50II.

Plan on rebuilding it and using it as a pit bike since it can be pedaled (midnight bathroom run), or driven (GF transport across the track). Gonna also pimp it out a little bit with some clubman bars haha... I'll post some pictures tonight or tomorrow, and will bring it to the track next time i make it out

i probably spend more time in my garage than the rest of the place so that's what I fixed up first haha... I love my garage, its only a 1 and a half car, but it fits my needs pretty well at this point, Finished it last fall. Put insulation in, finished drywalling it, repaired the existing drywall, epoxy coated the floors, installed some cabinets/workbench, installed some great lighting, put in a new insulated garage door, upgraded the locks, added some outlets, and a few other little things

I got it running after work today. The fuel petcock was completely clogged. I was able to disassemble it and clean it out so it would work, but the internal gaskets were shot so it leaked a little bit of fuel out where the selection lever is. Regardless, it worked well enough to start it up and ride around the block a few times

The carb is clogged so it doesn't run very well right now. The gas that was in there was about 7 years old! Also the tank was rusty and has left quite a mess. While i'm waiting for the replacement petcock and carb gasket set to arrive I will work on removing the rust from the fuel tank. Once that's 100% clean I'll install the new petcock, an inline fuel filter, rebuild/clean the carb, and give it another go

I also adjusted the brakes today, it stops pretty darn good now, other than that it doesn't need much, rides really well.

Well today after a good ride i decided to take the scooter apart so I can start working on it. Was a piece of cake.

todo list:

-remove the rust from the gas tank (acid wash)
-clean and rebuild carb.
-clean/inspect piston, rings, cylinder (replace any worn parts)
-replace air filter
-replace petcock
-replace spark plug

Started the engine tear down today. The cylinder looks good, as does the piston (i think, experts please chime in), but I think the rings need to be replaced as some carbon snuck by in a couple spots. I was also able to clean up the head quite a bit. I've started scraping the gaskets off, went through a whole can of carb cleaner but only about half done.... Overall things are going pretty good, the motor is in really good shape for being 30 years old

got parts in today!

Put it all together and after a little tuning of the carb it runs and idles great! Engine runs like brand new and it easily gets up to it's 30mph top speed.

Now about those 70cc kits.....
