Talking vBulletin 3.0

Any plans to upgrade?

Just curious, as it is a MAJOR interface redesign, and takes a while to get used to.

Just wondering, because I like the "old style" vBulletin.

It also SUCKS ASS. Lots of forums that went to 3.0 have members complaining. We arent going to it over at CF either.

I'm not crazy, my mother had me tested.

At some point I will have to but I have been resisting it for a while. if done right it can be a simple move for the users, problem is most webmasters get drawn into allthe gadgets it has and it confuses the heck out of the users. If I do it I will keep it simple

HDTony.... Damn glad to meet you!

I kinda picture it like Windows 2000 to Windows XP upgrade ... All the watercolored icons and rounded buttons.

Big problem is is that its soo new that the hacks and graphics are slow to come for it. Kinda like when a new model bike comes out. I'm not switching to it until my "list of greivances" with it is ironed out. and most of those are usability.

One of my pet peeves with 3.0, are the all the tiny pop-ups when you scroll your mouse over a thread list.

The "split" view is also crap, and the "quickreply" window doesn't work as good as this version.

The rest, I can live with.

The PM, and search system are great though, so does the new text editor.

there are cool bells and whisitles (i can't spell my way outta a paper bag) and very good stuff on the admin side.. it makes it SO much easier on that end, but i still just hate the way it looks.. too much info all cramped up.. and yes.. i hate the fuityness of the layout like XP.. thats why i run 2000 Pro

This site I post in frequently (nasioc.om/forums) recently had a 3 day downtime to upgrade from v.2.3.2 to v.3.0.x ... It took 67 hours to rebuild the search index (6.6 million posts).

All in all, its fast as hell, but with all the fruit-loopiness you said, those things can be customized

All pet peeves of mine as well. I hate that hover over thing especially. And that quick reply box is just screwed up, if I wanted to click a button to reply I would just click the reply button.
