looking for some ideas for things to host on the site next year..chim in with yours..

well i want to see what kinda things we can get for next year.

i know and i would like to see some other ideas from people.
here are my thoughts and some ideas i have, to help bring to the site, IF people are wanting them.

all of our sponsers stay with us.

Free track days with nesba
"hopfully they stay with us"

more of my riding lessons
"if people ask"

more of my suspension day set-ups
"if people ask"

maybe do a few CLSB track days next year
"ill know around febuary if i am going to do any next year or not this might have been my last year doing CLSB track days due to MANY factors, but if i do i need to get some things in order to do so" BUT again if people want.

have more LONG HAUL group rides.

MORE CLSB picnic's and BAR-BQ weekends.

maybe some raffles
"i gotta talk to my lawyer in order to do those again, dont want what happened to SBN to happen to us"

maybe get some new CLSB style decals
"yeah i know i am dragging my ass, i do have a busy life...lol"

have some texas hold-em poker partys at my crib this winter
"by private invite"

poeple need to set up more get together social nights for partys and stuff

just a few of my thoughts.

Ken i really think you just about covered it.. i would say I REALLY want CLSB track days next year.. those were the most fun i have ever had...

as for the Raffles, that is a great idea.. but i too got BURNED HARD when the cops showed up at the crib wanting to know about my raffle that i was running...

ALSO.. i think maybe we should open a store on CAFEPRESS.com i know we had the run of shirts and stuff.. but if you set up a free store on there, people can go and order at there own time. the site wouldn't make much money off that if any but it would get members to show there CLSB pride.

tony handles the t-shirts and stuff, i dont think that would be a good idea, the extra 2-4 bucks we get goes right into the site, and what not, any more losses are not a good idea.

the site issues grow more and more exspensive each year, and software additions.

but it is a good thought, and ill talk to tony, about leaving our store front open all the time, peoples orders might not get done right away, as per say like we need 50 t-shirts to get a deal on them "example" so the 50 order needs to be put together 1st.

versus "example"
1 person paying 50 bucks a T
1 person paying 20 bucks a T

i am all about getting the best deals for our money around here.

also pride comes from withien, not from what is worn on the outside.
never judge a book by its cover.

Cafe press is a free service.. you give them your logo and they do all the work.. you set the prices for your shirts, they do all the shipping and everything. If there is a profit, (depending on how much you charge) then the site would get that.. there is no money CLSB would have to put out for it..

i have this set up for my car club http://www.cafepress.com/sdac_chicago we make no money on the shirts because we just want people to buy we dont' really care about making some money.

they are good quailty, i'm sure the shirts tony had done our great, but you have to get a group order together, collect money and then people have to wait for 4 weeks to get there stuff, on the cafe press, anyone can go there order a shirt and it will get shipped to them, they will handle everything from payment to shipping.. just something to look into.

On the subject, how about trying to hit up Scores for a bike night (just a one time thing) or something like that.

Bikini Bike Wash at Strat's

On a more serious note, hope you have your Riding Lessons Day and Suspension Day again next year. Also, how about a Dyno Day.

"includes 10 used-car dealers or auto repair shops, 11 liquor stores and bars--two of which advertise lingerie fashion shows and a third billed as a "gentlemen's club"--three cut-rate motels and one trailer park. The squat, brick municipal building is next to a currency exchange and a few steps from an adult video store. The bars open at 10 a.m. and close at 6:30 a.m."

Ken,

I would like to see more track days and suspension set ups. You and I should talk about lesson sessions.

I would like to see more scenic runs.

Have you ever been asked to do a tech session? I think there would be people interested in learnign more about bike mechanics. I can give you a hand there.

Ken, I will be glad to do a texas brisket bbq over the christmas break when I am home. We just, unfortunately, can't do it at my house because I will be staying with my parents and, well, I've seen too many pictures of maks having spilled on himself that I can't take the chance. But if you guys want a get-together with brisket, I'm in. Maybe we can merge it with one of Rick's chicken wing meals mmmm

As for next year, those are all great ideas. Especially the decals-- I'd love some.

Here are one or two ideas that come to mind (I'll think of more later I'm sure). I'm trying to embellish most of my ideas around social gatherings in some way shape or form:

(1) Bike Maintenance Days where CLSB members come together and talk/work shop. I think holding a monster garage somewhere in order for new/old riderswho want to learn more about their bikes (eg, everything from changing the oil to prepping for track days) would be beneficial. Personally, I would love to hit the track next year but don't feel comfortable going by myself and/or what is needed to prepare my bike for said event. I think someone else brought up tech sessions...this idea could be expanded in other technical sessions (eg, the suspension set up day) or as a stand alone event. I know there are hurdles to climb with this one but I believe there are a lot more people who would like to know more about their bikes than they are letting on (sort of like the kid in the class who is hesitant to ask a question thinking that it might be silly but in reality everyone else has the same question?)

(2) CLSB Bike Wash event- either do it as a charity or just to clean our (mine especially) dirty rides.

(3) Get Hans to the track next year

(4) Biker Profile - have a monthly profile on a CLSB member that is rotated on a pre-determined basis (eg, monthly). This would help CLSB members know each other a little bit better...which will only help in our quality board postings/discussions

Thanks for asking Ken.

***Hans***

Allie, planning another WING nite during the motorcyle show in Feb/05, also making my award wining ribs (Toronto's Ribfest 1990), chili, and a pasta dish, free booze (hard liquor, beer and wine) still working on the breakfast menu for those who pass out

If we merge a nite, I need a weeks notice

Since I have been getting in shape, and tweaking the bike, I'm ready for the track been 20 years since I've done the track.....more track days, and hopefully this season isn't a freaking nightmare that last one was.

Cool I just thought that.....

OK, I'm still a newbie at best on this site but these are some ideas I have had in the dome:

Tech Tips - As a newbie learning about a bike hasn't been the best experience. And being on the site looking at you vets talk shop makes it seem like I'm watching the Spanish station. Sure, the ladies are great to look at but I still want to know what they're saying.

Dyno - After my accident I wonder where my bike stands. I would like to have dynos more often if possible.

Long rides - The main thing that hooked me to this site was the welcome I received on the Starved Rock ride. Do more rides!

Introduction Day - This might take a little work and it's just a rough draft kind of idea but I think either once a month or maybe every 2-3 months there should be a 'Welcome Day' for the newbies. We would meet at a location somewhere more central than some far off burb and basically make it like a meet-n-greet sort of deal. I also think that the ADMINISTRATORS should be involved with that (if schedules and busy lives permit) because to some degree I consider you all not just moderators but the leaders in keeping things organized with all members. Be nice to see who you all are!
(I also agree with the Biker Profile on the site circulating every month).

Community Fun? - Basically I'm looking at younger riders and/or teens that want to hop on a bike. We have a section on the site for them and answer questions and show them how NOT to be a squid. I know, I'm searching on this one but hey, there it is.

All in all, I think no matter what ideas come they should be consistant and often. I noticed that when an activity happened it was fantastic. So let's do it a little more. Sure, we don't have to milk ourselves dry. I'm willing to help with whatever I can. I just do the Mon-Fri 9-5 thing. Sure we can all ride our bike whenever we want but sometimes the best ride is having a GOOD EXCUSE to do it. lol

P.S. Not an idea but a question to the admins/moderators - What is being done for the marketing of this site? Because maybe that's something some of us can look into. It can get us more members and/or sponsorship aye? I know this is nothing new but I'm curious about it. Are there maybe bumper stickers or buttons out? Or even just using the net and asking major manufacturers to carry the site. I don't know. I know money is an issue. Again, I'm just throwing it out there. It's almost 2:30 am and the nocturnal in me wants to sleep. Ok, fading out. See ya!

Interesting. And I like it. Be a lot of detail though aye? I mean performance, looks, category, etc. Lot of work but a very fun idea.

Just something to think about...a Bike Show will definately bring a new/different element to the site. I mean this in terms of attitude and riding style. You sure you want this? The site had some serious growing pains this year with the addition of new mainstream riders. A Bike Show would bring the addition of a whole new rider/riding community. Is CLSB up to the challenge? Just a thought, you can rip/flame me if you want.

Sticker Dude in Lake Zurich would be a great place to contact about this. They did the decals for my offroad club and they look AWESOME!! The Dude is also very reasonable and you could definatly negotiate for a good price.

I know Im still a newbie to this site, but here are my suggestions:

1) I totally like the idea of a tech event, especially discussing what it takes to go to the track. I plan on taking my bike to the track next year, but its going to need alot of work to get it there, and I dont know what all that includes. I really hope there are riding lessons and suspension days next year too, I read about those and want to attend.

2) Planned group rides. Since I joined after the season I dont know what all yall do in this area, though Im sure theres something. I love going on long rides, but it sucks when your by yourself, and thats what tends to happen to me. Im sick of the standard ride downtown then home deal.

3) This isnt so much of a suggestion as agreeing with the revolving member profile idea. Im new, so I want to get to know everyone, and this is a great way to learn alot.

<---- Sky http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v8.../FIREdevil.gif As of 5.25.05 my bike has 28,000 miles. (Goal of 40,000 by the end of the year.)

Well they call me the breeze, cause I keep blowin down the road

We've batted around a lot of cool ideas like this but the biggest thing holding us back is time involved in the coding(read: all on Tony's back). Let's see what we can do though!
