For sale forums...

Can we allow people posting their stuff for sale to mark things as sold so that people who have been watching can see the selling notice?

I sold my DRZ, listed "SOLD" all over it, and was going to delete it in a day or so so people c an look and see it's sold rather than PMing me and calling. Someone removed the posting and I was still getting calls rather than allowing them to read it was sold and what not. Just a thought. People's questions could have been answered by looking at the "SOLD" text all over.

thanks!

To me if it's deleted I would just asume it was Sold. Deleting it also cleans up the forum so the ones still for sale stay closer to the top of the list. I guess it's something to think about. But personally I'd rather go to the f/s forum and see what's for sale and not have to weed through sold items.

+1 to Brian's sentiment.

I think that if the thread is gone, it's fairly obvious that the item is sold. If they missed that it's no longer on the board, they probably also missed a note within the thread itself saying "sold".

Less clutter, more orginization...anything in the for sale section is still for sale, period. No confusion that way.

if i am understanding this right? you mean in the title of the thread?

like if you had a bunch of items for sale, and as they sold off you marked them off as sold. after a while everything sold so you want to stop being contacted cause people cant read?

not a problem, go to your 1st post in that thread. and hit "edit" then select "delete thread" and boom its gone.

if we notice that we will hard delete it from the system.

hope that answers your question.

he wants it to be left in that forum with a sold sign vs. moving it elsewhere / to another forum

I would just put in the sticky rules in that forum that if a listing is missing - consider it sold or the seller pulled it off the market

Did you have it listed elswhere? Maybe that is the source of the late calls.

IMO leaving it online with a SOLD tag for a couple days will prompt more calls for those that "just wanted to make sure it was sold" or those that try to steal a sale on a great deal before the buyer actually takes delivery.

can i make a suggestion also?...can you have it so that when people are selling things of the same brand...to put it all into 1 freakin thread...like i seen some stuff for sale like alpine boots...then another thread for alpine gloves...and another thread for....etc etc etc...i mean it turns into a major clusterfuck...setting up single threads when they have 6 items for sale if just nuts...they should be 1 thread saying NUMERIOUS manufacturer stuff for salei think it should be condensed down to like brands or article type...

...plus my gf was with me saying "omg slow down, slow down" and I was thinking "Lose annoying squalk box in passenger seat, afford more mods and have less weight in the car and on the back of the bike"...so i dumped her and I'm single again as usual...HERE KITTY KITTY!!!

that would be nice wouldnt it?

but i cant control how people act or post man sorry

now if this was a business for selling shit and it was all pre sorted and organized for the seller? thats just a good way of doing it.

but we dont do these things man. we are just some guys giving our good will and time to help run a community.

hope this makes sense.

In all seriousness Thunder, I think we do a pretty dam good job keeping the ads as clean and uncluttered as possible. Sure it would be nice to categorize or consolidate multiple items but that is where "Search" is your friend.

Realistically, we dont have the manpower to run a full blown classified forum with that level of sophistication. Now if we charged a listing fee, sure you might expect that.

lol...wait guys...im not rippin on you at all...all im suggesting is that maybe at the top, but a sticky up there saying that you guys REQUEST that all similar makes/types etc be kept in 1 thread or numerious listing be posted into 1 thread...it was only a suggestion...and i do appreciate the way things go smoothly on here...but u guys gotta stop thinkin that any suggestion is a rip on you...im just tryin to give u guys pointers on what works on other sites i used to mod and those rules are still in existance cause of my ideas...

if people dont follow them...fine...but you may be shocked to see that some people will actually help you clear up clutter...

...plus my gf was with me saying "omg slow down, slow down" and I was thinking "Lose annoying squalk box in passenger seat, afford more mods and have less weight in the car and on the back of the bike"...so i dumped her and I'm single again as usual...HERE KITTY KITTY!!!

1. You MUST post a price on every ad.

2. Do NOT make 5 posts for 5 things you are selling, combine it into a single thread whenever it all fits into the same classifieds section

3. IF YOUR A SHOP/DEALER DO NOT COME ON HERE EXPECTING TO LIST ALL KINDS OF STUFF FOR FREE.

4. This is a buyer beware classifieds. ultimately you are responsible for what you buy and sell.

That's sillyness. How do I know what's for sale in each thread if there is more than 1 item per thread??? We would have to open each thread to see what's for sale, rather than just read the title.

agreed, I'll be listing separate items separately myself. makes it easier to remove the sold stuff too.
