Tire questions....

I need to put new rear tires on the Pcar (yeah, I should have done it last year, but I was able to squeeze one more season out of them).

I'm looking for a set of summer-only tires, any recommendations? Tire rack has the OE tires, Pirelli PZeros, but I'm thinking about the Michelin Pilot Sport PS2. Thoughts?

Second question: should I get all 4 tires or keep the front ones? They have about 50% tread on them, but they are likely the original tires that came with the car.

Get all 4.

Now, how tall (wide) do you want the whitewalls on the side?

I put PS2's on the Red-Sled ..... like them a lot.

Get all four ..... mixing rarely works well..... screws up the balance you car is so famous for.

Especially if you are changing brands.

Ive never paid much attention to noise levels so I would say they are all fairly quiet.

Thanks for the link, Tom. Kruz: fail!

Those Hankook tires seemed to have done really well, and were a match for the PS2. And the price is great. I can get all 4 for 1/2 the cost of the PS2.

And I'll give in to peer pressure, I'll get all 4 tires.

FAIL to YOU for driving that green Pmachine on the original rubber! You are living up to the Naperthrille stereotype.
I set myself apart from the crowd with my scarves.

The rears are newer Bridgestones, the fronts are Pirellis so I assume they are the originals. The right-rear wore very unevely, but after some research I see this is common on the 986 due to the suspension setup.

Bought the car for performance, right? Good tires only last through a winter or two anyway.

Upon Kruz's advice I went with the Hankooks. I couldn't see paying twice as much for only a small performance improvement... one I probably wouldn't notice anyway.

Didn't get to play much driving home last night as the roads were cold, but I noticed a big improvement in grip just on the cloverleaf. I can't wait for warm weather!!!

BTW, big thanks to Ryan for putting them on and doing an oil change.
