Need advice, buying car out of state

Anybody here have any experience buying a car out of state from a dealer (Wisconsin). How do I go about paying the vehicle tax, registering and titling the vehicle and so on in Cook county? If I have a trade-in, would I be able to transfer those plates somehow at the dealer, or does that take more leg work at the Illinois dmv?

Due to recent budget cuts and the rising cost of electricity, gas, and oil,

'The Light at the End of the Tunnel' has been turned off.

Are you buying from a stealership, or a private seller?

if the dealer doesn't charge you the illinois sales tax you will be paying it when you register.

the dealer can do that one of a couple ways. charge you the sales tax for their jurisdiction, you home states, none or some obscure amount.

I bought my car at a dealer in illinois and even though I knew and asked the dealer to charge me the 7 percent indiana tax they only charged me 3.5 for some reason. so I had to make up that 3.5 when I played it. they never did explain that but what ever its less that im paying interest on. might wasn't to call and ask their policy if you are buying some thing expensive or if it meters to you to do it one way or another.

where you bought the car shouldn't change anything about registering or transferring plates as that happens at the dmv.

Oh he can drive. He can drive beyond the limits of the tires, the engine, the car or anything else.
