New vehicle in the stable

2011 F150 Lariat Super Crew Ecoboost.

All I can say is if someone is looking for an awesome tow vehicle this is it.

3.5L TT 365hp - 420ft tq = on 87 oct.
3.73 gears w/electronic locking diffs.

And one killer black leather interior - rear view camera is awesome for backing up to a hitch. I think this is the last truck I plan on buying for a long time.

Here is a pic of the truck (not my exact truck but same color and wheels)

Ingot Silver Metallic

Interested in hearing about this too. I've not heard of the truck makers putting in turbos in their non-diesel trucks. Does it come with a badass blowoff valve??

Yeah, it's a twin turbo. Mileage rated at 16/21 with the 3.73s.

Since I only have 23 miles on it... no real world data from me personally but I have read about some other owners getting upper 20s on the hwy.

The engine is the same engine as the SHO but I guess they did some tweeking to the turbos for the F150... I don't know the exact details about what has changed between them but the HP/TQ ratings are up on the F150 vs. the SHO.

I'm hoping SCT gets to work on a tuner for the truck. Right now they have one for the SHO so I'm sure it's just a matter of time. Tuning should be good for a few extra mpg and some improved HP/TQ numbers.

Finally someone who has actually bought one. I will keep an eye on this thread and hopefully you update it with the miles you eventually put on it. I have been shopping for a pickup on and off for the last year. I was going to get a Toyota Tundra but I am not 100% sure yet. If you don't mind how much did you pay for it?? Any rebates of special sales??? You can PM me if you want if you don't want to post the price out in the open.

Thanks

Don't fool yourself. I tried to. When I get one it'll be tuned but I won't get better fuel economy because my foot won't come out of it either.

I tuned the g8 after a ton of mods. when I first got her she could do 25mpg, now i'm lucky to get 20 avg.

But she's way more fun to drive now.

I could definitely see myself replacing my Volvo with an SHO Flex when the time comes...unless someone comes out with another muscle wagon that I can also drive in the winter before then. Nice truck!

EcoBoost seems to be a hell of an engine! Subscribed also as I'm curious to see how it works in real application.

^^ Good point. That bit of extra time can really prolong the turbo life.
You can also look into a turbo timer if you want funny looks as you walk away from your (still running) car.

the first video doesnt show, that they took the engine after the equivalent of 150K torturous miles on the dyno, and bolted it into a brand new truck, and the torture continues.. here's the whole story of what they've done to this amazing engine:

You would think after 10 years they would improve gas milage. I got 12.5 MPG towing to Jennings out of a 200K mile Tahoe and would most likely walk all over Tims new ford.

Well just a little update on MPG.

If I'm easy on the go pedal I am getting around 17mpg local driving. I haven't taken it on any long distance drives on the highway yet but I was on a 55mph road doing about 60 and getting 20mpg. Not bad for a vehicle that weighs in over 5500lbs.
