1998 Skyline GT-T

Okay guys call me whatever you want ... but I'm going tomorrow to possibly buy a car that's for sale near my office out here in Kansas City. Probably one of the dumber decisions I've ever made, but we'll see how it works out. Got a few variables to work out still ... like insuring it (could be a issue). But regardless, seeing one of these in person and hearing it is gonna be awesome. I can't wait.

That is one sick car. Worth the money IMO. Good luck with the buy.

Take someone who's familiar with the car.

You better be nice to America or we will bring democracy to your country.

Well I'd be more worried about actually being able to register it since its allegedly a movie car. I remember a post a number of years ago on a different forum where a guy bought a car used for a movie only to find out that it wasnt street legal and couldnt be made street legal.

Also make sure its passed DOT safety compliance and EPA.

I'm not crazy, my mother had me tested.

What movie are they claiming this is from? The only blue skyline I remember was in F&F 4. And that was a GT-S, not a GT-R.

VIN says it's a 2009 made in Africa and the last seven numbers are zeros? The last seven numbers are the production (serial) number, so this car was never made.

The ad says the car is a GT-S and never mentions it was signed by Paul Walker.

Just spoke with US Customs ... then the EPA ... then the DOT and finally the NHTSA and found out that vehicle is NOT able to be registered in the US and is considered Contraband, so if I purchased it ...

Bruce Willis would come in a Blackhawk Helicopter Gunship and destroy it...

But I'm still gonna go try and drive it.

Only Nissan's made January 1996 - June 1998 designated as GTS or GT-R R33 are allowed to be in the country legally.

I remember shortly after the original F&F came out, I think it was a company called Motorex or something was importing and getting Skylines made street legal. I considered pulling out a mortgage at the time to get a R34 GTR.

The only Skylines worth owning have an RB26 motor in them which this one clearly does not. The interior is beat to shit and the Feds could come snatch this car up as soon as you register it with the DMV.

If you have money to piss away I can think of a few other cars with body kits that are made to look fast but really aren't much like the one you are considering.

I just called JK Motors, the company responsible for allowing the importation of that car ... they told me it'll be 36,000 doll-hairs to make one of those R33's street legal. And that doesn't include import of the vehicle into the US, you have to call another company to handle that. Oh and you also have to purchase the car, pay import duties, pay tax, and of course - register it, EPA test it, and find an insurance company that will insure it ... but doesn't really know what they are getting into.

Gawd they make it difficult for ya don't they?
