87 Grand National Paint correction

Thought some of you car guys may enjoy this one.

I was asked to buff some compounding marks of the hood, but I got a little carried away and did the whole car. After assessing the condition of the paint, it really needed it.

The paint was extremely soft, making it easy to correct, but will be difficult to maintain. I'm talking so soft that my finger was putting scratches in it.

I got most of the swirls out, but some RIDS still remained.

Unfortunately I didn't get any before pictures of it outside because doing the whole car was not planned.

Hood Before

Hood After

Top of Front Bumper Before

After

Taped off for 50/50 shot

50/50

Faded window cowl

Dull Trim

I also spent some time darkening the grill and under the headlights.

Unfortunately the sun was going down so I didn't get any really good sun shots. I missed it by like 30 minutes. Either way it looks a whole lot better than it did and it's ready for the show next weekend.

Great photos and work. I miss my Syclone. I'd love another Syclone, a newer Turbo Trans AM or Grand National.

You had a syclone? Those and the Typhoons were my favorite back in the day.

Can't beat a well kept corvette killer though. GN's still are great looking cars.

Congrats dude. That is AWESOME!!

Like the license plate frame!!

You cannot help the poor by destroying the rich.
You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong.
You cannot bring about prosperity by discouraging thrift.
You cannot lift the wage earner up by pulling the wage payer down.
You cannot further the brotherhood of man by inciting class hatred.
You cannot build character and courage by taking away people's initiative and independence.
You cannot help people permanently by doing for them, what they could and should do for themselves.

Back in high school that was my dream car but by today's standards there are many average cars that will outperform that car. Heck my 335 stock will run circles around that car and with a tune will devastate even a GNX. The interior of those cars are so dated I think in would be severely disappointed as far as amenities go thEse days. Id still love to have one in the garage.

Thanks Guys! I actually enjoyed doing this car. Hopefully my work pays off and he wins something at the car show this Sunday in Barrington.
As far as the motor goes, he just put a new one in last week and it's only got about 20 miles on it so far so we are not sure how fast it will actually go. We drove it around town and only boosted it at 5lbs because of the new motor, but he says it will go to about 20lbs or so.

I would pop those t-tops off, and head straight for Archer for old times sake.
