My New Tow Vehicle!!

Well after about a month of researching I finally got my hands on my new truck. It's a 2010 F-150 XLT with the 5.4l V8 and 4WD and only 27k on the odometer. I was trying to get into new 2011 with the EcoBoost V6 but although I can easily afford the payments on my budget banks don't think I can. Either way, I love the truck and the way it rides on and off road. And surpisingly with only highway driving I'm around 25mpg. I should have a much easier time towing the bike to the track with this than my accent. It was kind of neat making my first vehicle purchase on my own. All told I got out at 30k with tax, title license, Ford's gap coverage, premium care warranty to 100k and vin etching in the windows. The folks at Yucca Valley Ford out here by 29 Palms were great to deal with.

You wanna see my itinerary?

Sweet!! A friend of mine just got an '11 fx2 with the Eco boost. It tows more than his dads 4.6 '10.

Yea, I think I'm around 1000, less in towing right now than the ecoboost.

He's smokin' crack. No way that beast is getting 25mpg. The new Ecoboost is getting 23mpg with a tail wind. 22mpg otherwise.

dats was i thinking. trucks are heavy as hell. and with a v8 too. Unless it has the thing where the engine shuts half the cylinders during cruise.

Although I respect Ford for not going for the government bail-out, I will never buy Ford again. 1997 Escort GT - total disaster and my 07 Mazda 6 with the Ford V-Tec 2.3l motor- what a pile of junk - motor blows up @ 72k??? WTF. In case you think I'm hard on cars, the Mitsu Galant finally gave up the ghost @ 300,000 miles and the Forester has 173,000 on it now.

Nope with the truck on level ground I can get 25 as long as the AC isn't on. But as soon as the AC goes on or I hit a hill it goes down. But I can still usually keep it above 20 with nothing but highway.

I only paid $100 for registration plates etc in California because I'm in the Military. But I did have to pay a weight tax of around $100.

I can tow around 10k I think. I wish I could get the bike out here but finding time to take the test while on base with classes going on is next to impossilbe.
