Talk me out of buying a miata

Thinking about trading the bike for a cheap, old miata. I've always wanted one and it seems more practical for Chicago weather since I can throw snow tires and a hardtop on and drive it all year long if I want. I also don't have to gear up for every ride and could take my wife (she doesn't ride the bike and won't ever). Although, I would really miss the long rides like the F4T.

Say what you want about the sexuality of the owners, but I'm over that for the fun factor of these cars. Oh, and I can't keep both as I only have space and money for one toy.

I had one for about 10 yrs. I loved em. Reliable and if you feel the need for speed there a ton of after market set ups.

Let me know if you want some help looking at em. I know everything about the NA and NB. Not so much about the NC but ill probably have one soon enough.

Miata's rock ..... A great, reliable, well balanced car that is a hoot to drive to it's limits ....
Anyone who says it's gay is just uninformed or really insecure in their own sexuality.

Sad you have to choose ..... But a great choice.

The first week I got my Scion xB, they invited the Scion Club out to the autocross. I almost put my box up on two wheels; by the end of the day I beat 10% of the Miata drivers.

I hope they've gotten better since then, considering they've got 50HP and a sportier design on me. It was fun though. I wish I had a video camera back then to record their faces when they saw my times.

Come to think of it, I wonder if anyone video'd that day. If one of you Miata guys is on their forum, ask about it. It was in '05 and I'm not sure if it happened again since then.

I know what you mean; we bought a convertible a few years ago and ever since I've ridden my bike less and less every summer. It's just safer and more convenient for the two of us to take either a quick trip or a week-long drive across country then the bike ever was.

I love my Mazda (speed6 sedan) but for the toy car we opted for a Saturn Sky Redline and it's fun as hell; like driving an older, smaller vette with half the weight and half the cylinders, but not half the HP

Cool Scion autocross story.

Agree with the convenience thing ...... Convertibles are a lot more convenient
Than bikes for running around with gear and helmets etc, etc .......
