Nice MTB for sale on craigslist...

2003 Specialized s-works HT...

This is why I recommend a used bike over a brand new one - and I'm sure from the ad that it looks almost new. If this is set up the way it was outta the shop with the Marvic wheels and SID forks, it's a great deal (assuming he'll let it go for around $700). It'll kick any $700 bike's ass from Performance. Was over $3k new. You guys are always asking for a good starter MTB so I figured I'd share.

Post up pics if you get them from him.

True dat! I had a guy swear up and down his bike was worth the top end of price range cuz it was in great shape. He sent pics and the paint looked like crap! Everyone thinks their shit is worth top dollar.

I'll never forget I drove to Michigan to pick up a used Busa sight unseen. He swore it was mint, and when I got there, the engine had a knock, it was 8 different colors, and most bolts were missing. I wanted to beat the living shit out of him right there and then. Never again will I do that.

It could be a good deal, I like how he spelled everything but 2003 wrong. He has a hard "tale" and lives in "Northfeild"

But I agree with greeny, I had found a 2005 Top Fuel and it was in great shape for about the same money. Even my bike I found on eBay for half of retail, which I bought because as Meulen said most people think they have gold so the guy with the 2005 would not budge at first and two weeks later he was begging me to buy it but I already had the bike from eBay.

First off 2003 was a vbrake bike. 2003 Xtr isn't even equivalent to today's SLX. SID fork in 2003 isn't even close to what it is today. Considering I just picked up a 2008 epic M5 FS for $999, I wouldn't pay more than $450 for a 2003 HT for sure.

neh I'd rather have an 03 HT than an FSR

but anyway, there's a 2011 stumpjumper carbon 29er for 900 listed... Tell me THAT's not a good deal
