I'll be at a crit with my kid, and then doing a longer ride after that from my house.

Great work Jon. I see a group ride with us in your future.

For me, holy crap. I decided to enter a crit as long as my kid was racing. The earliest one was Masters 40+, so I threw some road wheels on the CX bike, and let her rip, dirt and all. I figured I would be seriously outclassed with some crazy high dollar bikes and CAT1,2,3 riders, but whatever, I was just going to use it as a training race.

I lined up on the front row, and as soon as the race started, there were attacks all over and the pace was super high. I was basically pinned most of the race, and on the 3rd lap the highest speed was reached on the back side at over 34mph. We averaged 25.5 the entire race. I had good position most of the race, staying towards the front, and the riders seemed to be MUCH better bike handlers than in CAT 4/5. No ridiculous yelling, pushing, going wide, etc. There was a decent hill on the front straight into a head wind, and these guys would kill it on the back side, but suck on the hill. I would gain a few positions each lap on that hill.

For the final lap, the pace quickened, and teams split the pack up quite a bit. Without a team to work with, I just kept grabbing wheels wherever I could, and ended up 8th I think, out of over 40 strong riders, so I'm happy with that. What a hammerfest though.

Then, I had planned a road ride with Scott and Andre, so when I got home we did another 45 HARD miles throughout the hills around here. I am officially done. Tired as hell.

Nice work Ken.

I think I'm spent too. Covered 72 miles on the bike this weekend and did not spend but 20 on the trainer all winter.

Ken that sounds fast. And Jon that is a great ride. It was fairly windy out.
