Who want some of this?

Who wants to keep their fitness over the winter? Who wants to get some fitness over the winter? Who wants to overcome the fat disease if it were at all possible and just as simple as a little exercising? Who wants to have fun? Who wants to have their hearts ripped out in the first 4 minutes of the race? Who wants to hang out with a bunch of spandex clad dudes all day? Yeah! Let's do this! I entered the first race already.

I'll probably do that one too. Jackson Park CX is the day before. That is the chicrosscup event.

I'm on CL now looking.

Frame size is 58 or 60..

Budget I for so sure don't want a Huffy but would like to be under 1K if possible... I would think $500 is to cheap?

$500 is too cheap, $1000 is very doable, $1500 is easy. I'll keep an eye out. I would try to hit the CCC event first. They are the most popular and most fun IMO. If you like it then you could think about entering the LG race if you have a bike. I would let you borrow mine except I will be using it.

Don't have the funds for another bike right now but I see mtb's are allowed(no bar ends). Definitely got my interest. Might check out a race first just to get a feel for it and know what to expect.

Looks very entertaining to watch, especially Cat 4B.

It's awesome. Lots of energy, fans can cheer people on almost the entire course, and in the 4b category there are tons of fools that can't handle their bikes, can't pedal, and are out there just for fun. Think of Sergeant Hulka's platoon in Stripes. They hand out cookies, money, stuffed animals. The spectators changed the course mid race last year. It's a free for all. There are a few sandbaggers in there too.

Nope, nothing required at all, but most will ride a regular CX bike which has handlebars like a road bike. Some will ride mountain bikes, but the larger wheel diameter on a 700c sized wheel is a little better for speed.

Ya, you'll need speed to pull off crashes like above..

The hot setup I hear is to step off the left side of the bike with your right foot placed in between your left leg and the bike in front and then clip out with the left to start running and keep your speed. I tried that once and the left didn't clip out when I put the right foot down on the ground to run and I'm pretty sure I did a front flip even before I got to the barrier.
