Wors Round 1: Iola

Who's in? What class? You gonna kick ass and take names or win the DFL award? I haven't registered just yet but I'm planning on making the drive as its a fun one and reminds me of how pathetic I used to be on that course (I'm sure Ken will post the pic so I may as well invite it ). Thinking I'll do comp to get more pain for my money!

You have to race the race you are licensed for, unless you do a one day license. Pretty sure that's how it works. I know for Elite, you must have an Elite license, no one days are allowed. That was a big deal a couple years ago, which is why I race Comp everywhere now and why even the smaller orgs have a Comp class.

Rescheduled

http://wors.org/schedule/

*IOLA RESCHEDULED* We are sorry to report that the Iola venue will not be ready to race on May 4-5 and the 2013 WORS season opener must be postponed. Recent snowfall and snow melt have made the parking area at Iola unable to support an event of this size! We have rescheduled the Iola Bump & Jump to May 19 and will be updating all websites with this info ASAP.

We will make a determination about Crystal Lake, which could possibly be rescheduled to the 26th, as soon as we are able.

One other alternative for that weekend (May 5th) is the Fort Custer Stampede. From what I hear those trails handle rain pretty well too. Looks to be a little over a 3hr drive from where I'm at. Sounds like pretty sweet singletrack riding over there so I'm kind of curious to check it out. I've never heard anything about Matthiessen before. What are those trails like? Race course mostly singletrack?

http://www.bikefortcuster.com/index.php/stampede-info

Race Times:

Elite - 10:00am
Expert - 10:00am
Sport - 12:30pm
Beginner - 2:00pm
Kids - 11:00am

From the FB page:

"Staging will be done at Eagle Lake pavilion, just past the first parking lot.

Beginners - 1 lap (8 miles approximate)
Sports 2 laps (16 miles approximate)
Experts 2 laps (27 miles approximate)
Elites 3 laps (40.5 miles approximate)

Now Beginners and Sports will be utilizing parts of the Red and Green loops. Experts and Elites will also be utilizing parts of the Red and Green loops, however they will have a longer racecourse than the Beginners and Sports."

Fort Custer has awesome trails, which is where the Xterra race is held in May. Not big on a 3 hour drive though. Pamba has great trails there too. From what I remember it is all singletrack, though last year was a mudfest and completely brutal. I will opt for Pamba assuming it's somewhat dry. If it's mud everywhere, I will sleep in or do a long road ride.
