WEMS Races

So who's doing any of the WEMS races this year? Northern Kettles is coming up a week from Saturday, May 11th. Then there's Levis on July 6th and Southern Kettles Emma Carlin on July 20th. There's a night race at Cam Rock Aug 24th I'd like to do as well. Need to pick up some lights though. Maybe get in some night riding practice at Kettle between now and then.

Hot chicks on bikes might help. I'm not sure what I'm doing yet. I want to try to hit some of these, but I gotta work a lot of stuff in, mostly my kid and her races too. These would be the best thing for me to train for La Ruta though.

I can post pics of hot chicks on bikes but that might be a little misleading for these events.

Sucks about them all being Saturday races. Although I sure won't mind having a recovery day before going back to work on Monday.

I'm interested but haven't been putting in enough seat time for the long. Might do one of the closer 6 hour races

The 6hr races are what I would most likely do too Kevin. I bet you would do great in these! Had thought about starting out doing the 3hr/30mi but want more of a challenge. Not even considering the 12hr category this year. Just doing it for the experience and doing it as a race will push me to go longer/harder than I would normally on my own. I don't expect to even come close to making the cutoffs for these even.

Will be good training I think for the Cheq 40 and any other longer distance races I might do in the future.

For anyone else not up to speed on this series, the races are either time or distance based formats such as 3hr/30mi, 6hr/60mi or 12hr/100mi. I think they shortened the races for Muir last year to 25, 50 and 75mi too so it can vary. Start times are aprox 8am for 12hr, 1pm for 6hr and 3pm for 3hr. The courses are nearly all singletrack from what I've read.
