Tough race today, especially since I was tired from WORS race yesterday, but I still did pretty well. Right from the gun people were drilling it and hitting it hard, taking turns up front pulling and pacelining. Wasn't sure what was being set up, so I stayed top 5 most of the race just to see and get with any breaks that might happen.
I took a couple pulls for a lap and pushed the pace when people layed off into the wind. Felt pretty safe up there with all the yahoos in back. So much commotion every lap, getting yelled at and hearing people cry about being in the wrong place and blaming others for not leaving room. Getting pretty sick of that. If you don't want me to chop your wheel, don't be on the fucking inside of the turn crossing wheels! It's just so simple. If my turn signal isn't on, don't expect me to leave you room! Tha fuck! Roadies are so dumb it's unbelievable. Mountain bike races start out at top speed sprinting your ass off over rocks and roots and grass and dirt and dead babies and rarely is there an issue, but hit a crit and there is crying like a fucking daycare.
I felt pretty good at a high average power, but wasn't sure of my sprint yet, so I was thinking maybe to stay up front and hopefully not lose too many spots. The last lap was super fast, and I moved up quite a bit to top 10, and did my best on the sprint, not losing any spots, but not gaining any either. At least I am getting faster I think. 25.5 mph average, which is damn fast for a CAT4 race, and 336 average watts for the 50 minute race, so I was definitely trying. I'm sure pulling for those two laps increased that number a bit too, but I'm glad I tried something different this race.
Wednesday is the road race. I'm gonna try some stupid shit there too.
Only after I get yelled at for not holding my line first though.
