Tough race today, especially since I was tired from WORS race yesterday, but I still did pretty well. Right from the gun people were drilling it and hitting it hard, taking turns up front pulling and pacelining. Wasn't sure what was being set up, so I stayed top 5 most of the race just to see and get with any breaks that might happen.

I took a couple pulls for a lap and pushed the pace when people layed off into the wind. Felt pretty safe up there with all the yahoos in back. So much commotion every lap, getting yelled at and hearing people cry about being in the wrong place and blaming others for not leaving room. Getting pretty sick of that. If you don't want me to chop your wheel, don't be on the fucking inside of the turn crossing wheels! It's just so simple. If my turn signal isn't on, don't expect me to leave you room! Tha fuck! Roadies are so dumb it's unbelievable. Mountain bike races start out at top speed sprinting your ass off over rocks and roots and grass and dirt and dead babies and rarely is there an issue, but hit a crit and there is crying like a fucking daycare.

I felt pretty good at a high average power, but wasn't sure of my sprint yet, so I was thinking maybe to stay up front and hopefully not lose too many spots. The last lap was super fast, and I moved up quite a bit to top 10, and did my best on the sprint, not losing any spots, but not gaining any either. At least I am getting faster I think. 25.5 mph average, which is damn fast for a CAT4 race, and 336 average watts for the 50 minute race, so I was definitely trying. I'm sure pulling for those two laps increased that number a bit too, but I'm glad I tried something different this race.

Wednesday is the road race. I'm gonna try some stupid shit there too. Only after I get yelled at for not holding my line first though.

Race Report.

Got there later than I wanted to because Crystal Lake is in fucking Wisconsin. Picked up my number and noticed it was 666. Seeing as I'm a pretty religious dude, this was not good. Did a few laps to see what the course is like and knew there would be crashes.

Race starts and I settle in somewhere in the back 25% of the field. Some fucking ding dong's tube pops and crashes taking another with him and I'm reminded of getting shot at when I was a gangbanger so I threw up a few gang signs and then realized I was in a race so went back to the business of pedaling. The speed is manageable but I'm a bit tentative as I don't want to ball up the new frame so soon so I decided to ride a bit cautious. The slinky effect is manageable and I'm able to close any gaps that form fairly easily. Half way through the race a big goofy mofo in a Psimet jersey and a LOOK bike says "hey wassup dude?". Another set of retards crash coming onto the front straight. I thought the pack would get strung out a bit but it never happened. Few weak ass niggas got shelled off the back here and there but it seemed like the majority stayed together. I moved up as far as I could on the last lap and had to follow into last corner as there was no where to really go without causing havoc so any chance of a good finish was gone. Started the sprint and saw that there was a pack of 5 about 40 yards in front of me and went after them but missed out a few positions by less than a wheel per friends video. On the cool down the same big goofy mofo is talking to me again talking about how he loves bicycle racing and says "I wonder what the poor people are doing today?" WTF??? Glad I got this one out of the way without any incidents. Now riding stupid will commence at the next race.

Crystal Lake Crit.
I knew doing in that I had done too much over the course of the week but wanted to make the most of it as shop was a sponsor of the event. Was up front for the start of the race as just wanted to get though the first two corners, which turned out to be a smart move as some DillWeeds go crashing in turn two. I heard to loud bang from the tube but just kept pedaling. For much of the race I never dropped below top ten or even five for that matter. Part way though the race some Pickerwood Cat 1 mtn bike racer that was in town for a wedding went off the front and had got a gap of 45 seconds on us. Brian my teammate said we have to go chase him down, so like an idiot I go off the front for a lap only to close the gap down to 30 seconds but blow up in the process. I was like a fish out of water gasping for air and had to settle down. It the process the main group goes by me and I am falling off the back. Not wanting to be dropped and clawed my way back up to the group in two laps, using my mad corning skills. Now I in the back with Yahoos that cannot corner to save a life and whom do I roll up on? Brian aka Chuck and his boy Pete. Two laps to go and things are starting to pick up but I really have nothing left in the tanks and just try to keep Brian in site. He stands up to sprint and I said screw that and seated staying right with him. Finished 16th out of 52, which is better than I thought as I was, think 20 something.
