Out, have to run to my Dad's house. If I could clone myself, I'd drive back a Z06 vette, but may not have a DL after first five miles.

Well that was a tough race. Wasn't feeling the hills in warmups, and had a hunch I was gonna get beaten up there pretty good, and I was right. Not sure what the deal is yet with my low HR and high lactic acid buildup and low power. I really hope it's just all the mediocre endurance/distance training I've been doing. Not sure yet.

After the first lap I started getting faster, but by then everybody was out of sight. I did what I could and reeled some people in, and passed a bunch of racers on the last lap too. Hardly drank any of my water, and only had one gel. Wasn't feeling it for some reason. I had a younger kid in front of me on the last part of the last lap, and I outsprinted him at the finish, and as I was flying down the hill, I noticed a guy in my age group just in front of me. If only I had another mile or two I could have caught him.

As it turned out, I got 6th out of 9 guys in my age group, and 33rd overall out of 57. Not great, but not terrible in this class. As I was telling Kevin, the higher classes are very competitive, and everybody in there is usually on point with their training and racing. The guy who won my age group was only 2 minutes ahead of me, out of the 1 hour and 42 minutes my time was. That's not much. That's the good and bad about WORS. There is always somebody right in front of you to catch, and also somebody right behind you to hold off.

Great story. So I start catching the elite girls and passing them, and I hammer past this one chick right before the singletrack started again with some good downhills. She says "if you're going to pass me before the downhills you better not touch the brakes" and I was like holy crap are you serious? I say "gotcha" and she says "I'm just giving you shit" and I say "I love you!" and I take off. True story. No idea who it was or what she looked like, so no pic requests or descriptions.

Good seeing Kevin and D out there too. Kevin crashed in the rock garden and D got passed by Dani and I overfilled my tires and did not DNF but was very sketchy. I think I'm psychic.

I finished but I think I lost feeling in my legs about 1/2 way into the 1st lap.
I just kept looking down and they were still moving. What a sufferfest

My only problem with all these MTB races is all the Uphill they keep including in the courses.

I'm real tired of racing like shit and finishing like shit. I'm going to figure this out and turn a corner because the last few months have been a shit sandwich on the bike. My strategy of racing up a class in comp is not paying off, I'm just getting dusted and then becomes a "training ride". Driving several hours to suck has taken a toll
Anywho, first lap I was toward the back as expected, came through the rock garden at a good clip, making it through the rocks with no trouble, then came the bumpy right/left/right/left and couldn't keep the wheels on the ground enough to slow down or change direction, ended up slamming into the tree at the bottom with my dome, then the rest of me. Good times, I'm sure it looked great. After that I really didn't give a shit and just rode the rest of the damn race. Next couple laps the rock garden was no trouble as I now knew the course. 2nd lap had to stop and piss, lost another couple spots, but who's counting. Finished the race with disastrous results. Looking forward to checking off the Cheq 40 next week and then moving on to cx.

Stay with it dude. Training goes up and down. Same with me. I'm not feeling too well lately, but you can only do what you can do. I know you're busy with work and now with the kid coming, so that takes a toll, especially with recovery. As long as you're having fun and seeing a light at the end of the tunnel then it's all good. If not, then think about moving down a class for now and see what that does to your results and attitude. D has no excuses.

You are incorrect sir, I have a very thick excuse book

I'm pretty sure it's past time for me to retire and take up knitting of shuffleboard.
