Yeah, they work. I think we should do away with names and just call each other by our FTP numbers.

I never knew what mine was, but for what I'm doing this year it does not matter to me anyway as I need steady power output for hours at a time not for 20 minutes.

I'm pretty sure that FTP means more to a triathlete/TT guy than it does to a crit racer. That 20min number multiplied by .95 is what you supposedly can maintain for an hour. I'm sure your trainer can base your training off of this and tell you what you can maintain for however many hours it's going to take you in the ironman.

I have heard that and from watching Kona Ironman it would seem about right.

I just wish I knew was going to test as I would of had more then a cup of coffee and half a bagel. I did have a hammer gel in my bag that I was able to take... I did get very dizzy and almost fell off the bike at one point

I would like to re-test it again...

yeah it would help knowing you're going to do an FTP test. You'll more than likely do better the second time.

What was funny was I was still higher than everyone that was in the class.

At least I was higher then Ken's benchmark of 270

wait benchmark is 270 FTP or 270 for the test which would make FTP around 256 watts which is some bitch power.

I figured you would..

But I'm not sure which is more correct, my new to me powertap wheel, which is what your seeing on garmin connect or the computrainer, as the Computrainer had me higher, either way it is all good.

I just want a do over to at least eat something an hour before hand so I don't fall apart seven minutes in. But it probably will not change that much anyway.

honestly it doesn't really matter. What matters is to use the same device to measure so it's consistent and you can see improvements. Computrainer was off by 1 watt with the shit I'm using now. I did a second FTP test and actually got higher numbers than the first time. Now I need to do it again on the program I'm using and see how it matches up. I can tell you that I'm 3.81 watts/kg right now. I want to be at 4watts/kg.

That is true. I was going to use my wheel as base line anyway as I can keep using that and have a reference each time.

I'm to fat as I barely 3 watts to kg..
