Thanks for the link, just started researching and that will be helpful. I'm having a choke issue but I thing it's related to plugged jets.

Have you cracked open the carbs yet? I know your opinion on carbs, but they're pretty straight forward to clean and fix once you're in there. Make sure you record how many turns the mixture screws are set at by counting the turns in until they bottom out and then taking them out.

I havent yet, mostly its trick to see how to get to the carbs. I am hoping to be able to pull the jets without taking the carbs out, the two inner ones are impossible to get to.

+1 in regards to Z1. Good $$, fast shipping and when you call you talk to someone that knows and cares about bikes.

Why would he need to touch the mixture screws if he is simply cleaning the jets?

The mixture screws are part of the idle fuel path way.

They are called idle mixture screws.Once off idle they do little to nothing .

Yup. I assumed that if he was having a problem with the choke, he was also having a problem with the idle. Best to clean out the entire circuit than just the jets.

Chris was warning me because he knows if I start doing something I will proceed randomly with no awareness of the consequences.

I just don't want to see another project sitting in your garage with no end in sight.
