Heh, found this rant from a Halffast guy on Do The Ton:

I will not support ANYTHING TonUpChicago is involved in.
Just look at their website --->http://www.tonupchicago.com/
It was taken down/put on hold because Larry (pres of TonUpChicago) is so shady he hasnt paid for webhosting for MONTHS !
So the last thing I nor ANYONE should do is support an event (such as this) that will just put more money in his pocket...

different link. Larry "apparently" made a backup of the site behind broken cherry's back and is hosting the site somewhere else now.

It is a long story and don't believe what you read from Half fast or from Broken Cherry.
Put simply when you pay for something and don't receive what you pay for and when you're doing business with someone and they promise you one thing and don't deliver anything you have to take action. I don't get involved with the business aspect of the club and I certainly don't recieve any money from anything the club does and I can assure you no one is getting ripped off or getting rich.
The Club's events are always fun and well attended. Anyone who comes has a good time and if they spend money they always get what they paid for. That's alot more than you can say for some who are accusing the club of wrongdoing.

If you want to go to the TonUP site, it's now www.tonupclubchicago.com. We're still here and we're here to stay.

even if he owes money for hosting, he still owns the content of the site, no? So, it is not like this "behind the back backup" is unethical, correct?

Assuming he paid the bill for whomever made the site, I would think so.

You notice how just one guy who is a disgruntled former member of Ton Up Chicago and admits it, is all over the net talking smack and attacking one guy in particular and absolutely nowhere do you see Larry (AKA Fletch) or any member of the Ton Up Club out there ripping anyone?

Do you think it could be because he is full of sour grapes because he was reigned in from taking liberties with the Ton Up Club name and misrepresenting it and has an agenda of his own?
He ought to be careful what he says and who he backs in the dispute with Broken Cherry because it's far from over and when it IS finally over Larry and Ton Up will be vindicated from the BS only HE is spreading.

Krukster86,
I have no bone to pick with you. All of our interaction here on CLSB has always been friendly and it should remain so but, with all due respect do you think it's proper to quote personal attacks from other websites here on CLSB and drag CLSB and its members into something which it is not and shouldn't be involved? Especially since the person who is being attacked is not on CLSB and can't respond?
Nick starting the thread asking me a valid question about the club's website is perfectly acceptable and I think I gave a valid answer. Any more valid questions and if I can answer them I will...but proliferating personal attacks from other web sites is not cool when you don't have a dog in the fight and have no real info about what's being said or why...don't you think?

Everyone from CLSB that has ever been to a Ton Up event or ride has had nothing but good to say about their experience with Ton Up. I think that speaks for itself.

Oh...for the record...the last person who tried to tell me how to dress gave up on that about 50 years ago...Rest in Peace, Mom.

I did notice that and it did register with me.

That being said, I don't see the problem with linking in other sites. It is out there in the public domain and anyone can find it.

Normally I don't see a problem with it either. When it has substance or proves a point or adds pertinant information to a discussion. But, in the case of personal attacks accusing someone of malfeasance without any shred of proof to back the claim up, it is not proper.
Most websites and discussion boards, CLSB included, take a dim view of personal attacks, especially those that make accusations that can be perceived as libelous that have no shred of proof attached to them.
I know Krukster86 was not doing the attacking, but why even give it referrence when you or the board you're on are not involved?

This thread goes back several months but the outcome deserves a follow up. In spite of the rhetoric of a disgruntled ex member and the actions of a business who failed to deliver on services that were promised, this situation has been resolved in favor of the club. Ownership of www.tonupchicago.com has now been turned over to the Chicago Ton Up Club where it should heve always been in the first place. The club is thriving and growing. All of the clubs events are on for 2011 and everyone is welcome, as always.
Our web page and all the info about our events can be accessed at both www.tonupchicago.com and www.tonupclubchicago.com.
I hope to see a great turn out of CLSB folks at Mods vs. Rockers on June17 & 18!
